Mariel of Redwall(Book 4 of the Redwall series)
I picked up two books yesterday:
Star Trek Titan - Fallen Gods by Michael A. Martin
The Chalk Girl by Carol O'Connell
"I can't complain. I got to be Jim Morrison for the first half of my life, and Ward Cleaver for the second half." - Warren Zevon.
Picked up a 35 cent 1960 Dell edition of Bedelia by Vera Caspary.
I'd agree it's on par with I, Claudius, minus the drama. Beautifully written, and my favorite book by Yourcenar. (But then I'm not a huge fan). A few years ago, on a camping ground in the French town of Vaison La Romaine, I came across a swimming pool that had been shaped and made up like the famous Hadrian's baths. It moved me to see that someone would go to such lengths for something like a simple swimming pool. (Man, I love the French when they do things like that).

Memoirs Of Hadrian!
What a book.
Berk is in for a special treat!
"You can't trust them as poets either. The true poet is anonymous, as to his habits, but these boys have to look, act, and apparently smell like poets"
Flannery O'Connor on the beats.
If it counts, I've literally just pre-ordered the paperback editions of Justice league VOL 1 and Batwoman hydrology for £18, an absolute bargain considering the hardcovers will cost more.
'If you meet a loner, no matter what they tell you, its not because they enjoy solitude. It's because they have tried to blend into the world before, and people continue to disappoint them'
I recently purchased the following 3 books, the first 2 of which I have finished:
IQ84
22 Britannia Lane
Stonemouth
I wanted to challenge myself this summer to branch out from Science Fiction and I am glad that I did as both IQ84 and 22 Britannia Lane were tremendous reads and I am really enjoying Stonemouth by Ian Banks.
Anyone else read these books? If so, what did you think?
Looking forward to it, but to be honest, it's probably going to be put on the back-burner for some time. But it's something I've had my eye on for a few years now, so when i saw a cheap copy I grabbed it, even though I know I won't get to it right away.
The Violinist's Thumb: And Other Lost Tales of Love, War and Genius, by Sam Kean.
I can even pretend I bought this for work, which makes yet another Amazon package at our door more acceptable to the little woman!

Zero Day by David Baldacci.
"I can't complain. I got to be Jim Morrison for the first half of my life, and Ward Cleaver for the second half." - Warren Zevon.
Ordered "Shills Can't Cash Chips" and "Widows Wear Weeds" both by Erle Stanley Gardner writing as A. A. Fair.
Love me some Cool and Lam.
Law of Attraction by Allison Leotta. My fiancee's cousin wrote the book. Baldacci actually had a quick review on the cover.
Lonely Souls by Poppy Z. Brite and William Trevor's Fools of Fortune.
Doctor Who: SHADA: The Lost Adventure By Douglas Adams - by Gareth Roberts
