The action is the weakest part in the game.
As i was playing it, and i did like it, i thought a lot of people wouldn't like the game because it's so slow and deliberate.
It makes sense, you're a detective, that's not exactly fast work, but the action feels sort of slow too, the driving feels kind of slow (Again, given the time period it fits).
With how bored i got at GTA4 though, and it was a great game, im not shocked they went a different way.

That's kind of risky chance to take for Rockstar.

Not the way the videogame industry runs these days.
The next game from the makers of GTA and Red Dead Redemption + a huge marketing push?
It could be shit in a box and it would have sold.

Yes but they are known for action oriented games with lots of violence.

At this point people might have been getting bored of it.
GTA 4 did well, but you could see that "Eh, we're bored" sentiment starting to pop up.
Besides, the company is fully in Franchise building mode, you need new ideas for that to work.

Still playing Dragon Quest IX. I just recieved my first piece of Erdrick equipment. "Erdrick", not "Loto". I'd just like to stop and thank Enix and Nintendo for restoring the right and proper mistranslation that we all know and love.

I think your right they could coast on what people know about them and put out GTA forever but it's good to keep people off their feet and do something unexpected, especially if you want to stay in the game.

Thinking about it now a lot of Rockstars games are inspired by movies and movie genres so i guess doing a noire video game isnt that strange within that context but i'm still surprised that there isn't a lot of gun play or action from what people have been saying.

And i think they have improved, personaly.
Red Dead was GTA with horses in theory, but the game did play differently, and better.
LA Noire has it's own entirely different feel, and again, it's very well done.

still working on AC Brotherhood. There's too much to do in AC games. I know you don't HAVE to do all of it, but it's still a ton of work to do just some of it.

I'm going back and forth between the two best RPGs from the last few years: New Vegas and Dragon Quest IX.
