Looks to be good so far. I like what I'm seeing from Garfield, Stone, and Leary.

My biggest concern is that Webb is really emphasizing Peter's absentee parents over Uncle Ben in terms of what defines him. It could just be that he assumes everyone knows Uncle Ben is the biggest factor, so he's selling the film on what's different.

That's one of my concerns about the film, too. Especially if a rumor I've seen being floated around the net regarding how Uncle Ben gets killed in this film actually does pan out.

Meh. Uncle Ben isn't that important to the mythos. As long as someone close to Peter dies (or is horribly injured) when he could have prevented it, is what matters the most. Oh and said person has to say the "with great power, comes great responsibility" line before they bite the dust

    Interview with Marc Webb.

Webb names Ultimate Spider-Man, and Mark Bagley's art, as a huge influence. (I think that might explain a lot about the Peter/Gwen relationship as many elements could be seen as borrowed from the Ultimate Peter/MJ relationship like Gwen knowing Peter is Spidey.)

Webb also names his favorite Spidey villains (but claims he isn't giving away sequel plans). Kraven The Hunter, Mysterio and... The Green Goblin...
The monster saved them all. And in their fear, they betrayed him. As they always have. As they always will.

Kraven or Mysterio please!! Either of those would be my pick for a sequel. I could see the Lizard/Spider-man battle being a huge lure for Kraven.
Why aren't you reading Winter Soldier? You should be!

Good choices! But it would have to be the "Fearful Symmetry" version of Kraven, not the lame early versions.

Well, here's some potentially disappointing news. The AMC Theaters website has revealed what the running time for the film will be:

    1 hour and 31 minutes.

Considering how most potential blockbuster superhero films clock in around at 2 hours--including the original Spider-Man film--I wonder if some fans could be potentially feel short-changed by this--especially since you know that the 4 to 5 minutes of the film will have to be devoted to the closing credits, meaning the actual run time is not even an hour and a half long.

EDIT: Yes, I know it also lists Tobey Maquire, Kirsten Dunst, and Sam Raimi as part of the cast, so it's possible it could be mistaken about the running time as well. However, if this information about the running time is indeed correct and if Webb initially said that the original cut of the film clocks in at around 2 hours, then that means 30 minutes of film was indeed cut, probably at the behest of Sony or Webb wanting to tighten the pacing of the film. Which, IMO, is not a good sign.
