    Default Marc Webb/Andrew Garfield's 2012 Spider-Man movie megathread

Well, THAT was fast....Marc Webb directing Spider-Man 2012

Gotta admit, it's an interesting choice. Especially since this will only be the director's SECONE feature film. Still, Raimi seemed an odd choice at first and look how that turned out.

I was darned excited by the announcement of Raimi back when. Always liked the man's work.

This guy has a more fitting name though.

    (500) Days of Summer was a fantastic film, and I'm glad he's doing the new Spidey-film.

It's an interesting choice to say the least. I haven't seen 500 Days of Summer, but I am kind of surprised they went with someone so inexperienced in the ways of big budget Hollywood directing.

Still, it might be a good idea to go with someone who has so much to gain by making the movie good. Or Sony wants somebody they know they can push around.

    Here's hoping for the former.

They just hired him because his last name is Webb.

The same could be said for spielberg and cameron and look how they are now.

Obviously every superstar director or actor or anything else has to have a breakout film to send them on their way. I'd love it if this turns out to be Webb's Jaws or Terminator. I want a great Spider-Man movie and I wasn't really implying anything about his talent (I wouldn't know), just that he's not that experienced a director of films.

Like I said, I hope very much that this turns out amazing. My comments were more along the line that I could see a studio hiring a someone with lots of hype, but not that much clout so they don't have to butt heads like they did with Raimi.

Wow, this is awesome. Webb's directed the majority of music vids for my favorite band, AFI. Guy does good work.

    eh I'm not sold.

The first two Spider-Man movies worked because Sam Rami had so much passion for the source material. This guy might make a good movie, but I'm not sure it would be a good spider-man movie.

Of course he could be the biggest Spider-man fan in the world, who knows.

Pretty much exactly what I was going to say. He's only done one film, but its a great movie.

Plus, his last name is WEBB. C'mon now.

Good choice. I liked 500 Days and really liked the choices he made with stuff like colour.
