Default Another Explanation For Amazons Attack

I was reading a column about something, when a word jumped at me: inexplicably.

During Amazon Attack, many things are inexplicably: savage amazons, Queen Hippolyta, amazon friendly beasts, etc.

And it suddenly hit me. These are not the same amazons that disappeared during Rucka's run. They are the amazons from another universe.

Think about it. With Infinite Crisis, the multiverse was restored. We know for a fact that there are variation of characters in all Multiple Earths. It is possible for Darkseid to access one of these universe and, through Granny, deceive the amazons, and use them to spread hate and mistrust between mortals.

In my mind this theory sticks out the most because with it, we can bake our cake and eat it too. Everything happened in our earth, and nothing has to be retconned or written out of continuity.

    What do you guys think?

'Fraid not. Recent events in Secret Six make it clear these are E1 Amazons. There's no escaping that steaming turd of a story.

I am thinking of something from Jimenez's run that could easily explain the behavior of the Amazons and give it credence, credibility and understanding....

    wanders a way....

    New continuity.

It's easy enough in comics to return the kit & kaboodle to "regular" Earth (whatever it's called these days), where a more logical and possibly entirely violence- and anger-free chain of events happened and the positive aspects of the run since AA (or since Rucka, depending on where you assign the "things went wrong" line) are kept.

Or just completely ignore. Nevah really happened.

I just choose to imagine that something horribly wrong occurred to the Amazons while away in the other realm, and that Amazons Attack is the consequence of that undefined tragedy that befell the Amazon Nation. Be it corruption from Darkseid or Neron, influence by the Red Emotional Spectrum, Mr. Genie causing mayhem, or a curse by the White Magician's ghost, something happened off-panel that made everything go horribly wrong, but now it's been fixed.

I don't think the Amazons were savages, when I think of savage warriors I think of people and loin cloths with clubs and stone axes randomly attacking anyone that crossed their path. The Amazons in AA were tactical. They knew whom and where they were attacking. The Amazons were deceived and mislead by Circe, they acted out of loyalty to their resurrected queen, although if I remember correctly Phillipus and Artemis did have some reservations about Hyppolyta's course of action, and questioned her on it.

Amazons Attack happened, and there is nothing anyone can do to try and salvage that train wreck of a story, just like there is nothing that can Slavge The Clone Saga, or One More Day in spiderman. If it could be erased cool, but unfortunately it can'y. I just file it under "Things that will never be spoken of EVER!!!"

I don't recall Artemis and Phillippus ever going to Hipployta about the reservations they had. But I haven't read this since it was released.
Insert deep or humorous quotation here.

granted, they're not depicted this way in other comics (at least not iirc), but AA has stuck with me and is how i see them now. Diana is blinded to it since they are her family. IMO and no doubt you'll disagree but until AA is retconned out, then it's how i see the zons

Is that why Artemis is wearing her old devil hunter uniform?

Guys and ladies, there is quite obvious, something from Jimenez's run that could easily explain the behavior of the Amazons and give it credence, credibility and understanding....
