We live in an imperfect world, mistakes happen. I found myself misinterpreting some comments made by Kurt Buisek the other night and wound up in a debate with someone who really had pretty much the same position as I did. In a very gracious behind the scenes email he said, "Sometimes things go awry on the internet." It happens...
Scott Allie has a real love for what he does and is a genuine nice guy. Anyone who's had the opportunity to either work with or simply communicate with him will surely say the same thing. He is not Lex Luthor nor is he a Lex Luthor. (He is neither genius nor evil genius.)
When you've been working in the business as long as Scott has something is eventually going to go awry. I'm sorry it had to be on such a big name project, but hey, that's life...
Scott, sit back, close your eyes and relax. On the grand scale of things, how bad was this really?
You're forgiven and this too will pass.

Well I am glad Joss explained the situation. It still is an odd one (Reminiscent of the UPN-WB days of the shows) but my faith is restored. Scott Allie does need to relax a tad... And not make insinuating claims that hint at grand over-reaching, inter-company plans. It's cool Scott. Mistakes happen. Cat's out of the bag, now we'll wait for the issues.
(although I'm still not sure how this Twilight-is-Angel-thing will ever connect back to IDW plots.)

I didn't interpret it like that. I don't think anyone but whatshisname who writes the current arc of Angel did. The one with the personality disorder. It seemed pretty straightforward that Allie was just trying to reassure IDW's editor that they weren't messing with the Angel property by turning him into a villain or something.Scott Allie does need to relax a tad... i'm not happy about the reveal, but i will indeed survive. to be honest, I'm more peeved at websites that put spoilers directly on their front page, which, regardless of how anyone spins it, is flat out unacceptable. Big old fail for you guys. Joss has my trust though and I'm looking forward to how it all plays out.
On to other matters. I really, really love (love!) Fables, however Bill has lost me as a reader. It's unfortunate (for me) I just can't find it in my heart to support his work if he's going to react like petulant child.. You have the keys to the castle, Bill, but it ain't yours.
Good point! You'd think surely someone at CBR especially would have made the catch and taken the high road and double checked before running the cover. I think the phrase I'm looking for is, professional courtesy. I guess someone made the call that sensationalism and controversy garner hits. I think that's kinda sad...
I guess if anyone is happy out of all this, CBR is...
