How the hell did anyone at this organization think it would be acceptable to spoil something like this on the front page of the website? ****ing inconsiderate jerks.
I cannot believe you guys spoiled the Twilight surprise. You posted it in the headline, for God's sake. I don't know what you were thinking -- or what Dark Horse is thinking, either -- but that was really inappropriate. With all due respect -- well, you fill in the blank.
Just registered to express my extreme contempt for everyone responsible for spoiling a secret that's been going on for three years on the front page. Here for news, not spoilers.
I still don't understand how they can use Angel at DH when IDW has him now? I thought they had exclusive rights to the character. Not that I mind. I stopped getting the IDW Angels after Joss was finished over there. Most of the art on the IDW Angel book has been awful. For some reason it always looked like someone dumped a bucket of ink on it. This is in sharp contrast to the current DH Buffy book which has consistently GREAT art. I'm sure I read in some earlier interview that DH wasn't allowed to use Angel OR Spike directly in the book BY NAME because of the IDW deal.
So WTF?
My earlier post was deleted, probably because I dropped a C bomb through sheer rage, but just to reiterate, this is a massive **ck you to all of us who have followed this book these last few years.
Well done on spoiling this comic for all the people like me who have waited for over thirty issues to find that out. You've done the writers, artists and publisher Dark Horse an enormous disserve and have only encouraged comic readers not visit your website to read news and reviews if this is the sort of headline that greets them on the front page. Appalling.
If you look after the fans, they will look after you.
I also registered (way to get members CBR) to express my extreme disappointment in this fine site for publishing a spoiler like this on the front page.
But then, as I kept fumbling with the numbers and letters in that fakakta registration spam filter that was all obscured with swirly lines, I started to think.
This "reveal" is 100% false. A "red herring" as people in forums tend to use a lot concerning comics mysteries.
Why would Dark Horse spoil their own years-old mystery three months in advance? How does that benefit them? Sales surely would have picked up as people disillusioned with the meandering pace the comic has taken over the last year or so would return to see Who Twilight Is. Even more so than would come back to see Angel, months after getting over the fact that he is appearing in the book.
Scott Allie has made it a point, even in the interview for this article, to talk about how hard he has tried to keep the secret. Well, what has changed? Why reveal it now? For high orders by retailers? The book already sells incredibly well and those sales only would have gone up, as I've stated. If books sold out at the store level Dark Horse could just make more money in variant cover reprints.
It is the most basic form of investigation? "Who benefits?" And don't just respond angrily. Think about it for a second. And don't look so harshly on CBR. If you think that the reveal of Angel as Twilight, as false as I know it is, would have eluded you for 12 weeks straight, you're being dishonest with yourself. But I absolutely understand the inital rage, because I felt it too. Dark Horse can be run by morons, or CBR can be run by morons, but both of them dropping the ball like this is highly unlikely. They've both been in the game for a long time.
We're being toyed with here, but let's see where this is going. Don't let it spoil your weekend.
I also registered to express my utter disbelief as to how this was handled. A mystery literally years in the making spoiled on the front page of the site.
I'm almost willing to cut them a little slack given that the reveal is on the cover of the comic, but this is a poor way to treat both readers and creators
i think its not the angel we know and love perhaps a dark angellike dark willow from the future

HUh? hold on, it wasn't an issue reveal but a solicits???
I'm not sure if thats better or worse!
Unless this is a Jean/Piotr swicheroo again...
Oh shut up-- you would have ALL clicked the link anyway. Really, who are you kidding?
Now back to the mindfuck....yeahbuwhat?!
H...How? Why? My initial reaction is that this is another "Buffy's gay" moment for shocks and gigles but it also makes a lot of sense that Angel, CEO of Wolfram & Hart, would have access to the army and demons alike but....uh. I, hum. I'm back to reading this book.
Hey guys,
While I understand that longtime Buffy fans are taken aback by the news, considering both the fact that ALL the images that hit and the new image we received for this story featured Angel prominently and that public discussion and promotion behind the reveal had already started off by discussing the facts of the reveal and not just that it happened (I mean, the Twitter tag they went with is #twilightisangel)...well, with all that on the table when we reached out to Dark Horse for an interview, it only made sense that we'd report on the news as is rather than hide it behind spoiler warnings and such.
I get that you're angry this hit, but it hit suddenly, and we tried our best to give DH their say on the implications of the reveal without spoiling the particulars of the issues that are coming in the months ahead.
I truly believe that if you're a Buffy fan who spends any time at all on the internet reading about or discussing the series, this would have been spoiled for you long before the issues in question shipped whether we put the image front and center or not. And because of that, we decided to go with a hook to the story that would bring in as many readers as possible, something I still stand behind.
Thanks for letting me know how you feel in a civil manner,
- KP
I believe it because I always thought that Twilight would be someone we wouldnt expect .
It feels real to me.
