Probably so, there haven't really been a lot of anthology comics in America recently. The only ones I can think of is Alan Moore's "Tomorrow Stories" and the Papercutz reboot of "Tales From The Crypt". And I think because Dredd is at the forefront of every issue, it's more or less "loathing by association" given the worldwide knowledge of the Stallone movie and the trickle of people who actually know that the comic came first.

But there's really nothing Rebellion can do about it, the Stallone movie is always going to be there like a cancerous polyp on the legacy of the franchise. The best thing they can do is carry on best they can and keep pushing the product. Another thing is very few stores carry any 2000 AD related products except for probably the Batman/Judge Dredd crossovers. It's a very niche line of products or so I'm gathering.

I've seen old issues of 2000 AD in bargin bins and even asked my local comic book clerk about them selling it and he replied "We stopped carrying it because it just didn't move."

I actually love anthologies... of short stories. I'm not too fond of serial anthologies which include ongoing series. With short story anthologies, if I don't like like one story, I don't have to worry about the next issue having it again. Whereas serials may continue multiple stories I'm not interested in. I really wanted to like Dark Horse Presents but that's one thing that eventually turned me off of it.
This is definitely less of a problem with 2000 AD though. Brass Sun was interesting and Judge Dredd is always fun.
I'm lucky enough that my LCS recently started carrying 2000AD and the Judge Dredd Megazine (because of Dredd 3D, I think) and while I don't purchase it regularly, I think I'll pick up a random issue every now and then. But yeah, the price/frequency deters me a bit.

See, and I'm not a fan of short-story anthologies because I feel no inclination to read the next issue without some kind of common thread to tie them together. So I adore Serial Anthologies. Also why I love Dark Horse Presents.

For me, the thing with 2000AD is it's weekly, so you're talking about £10 a month for four stories per issue, four of these sections being about the same length as a US comic. So you're paying roughly the same as US titles. That doesn't seem a lot, but when you're paying that for just one story of four, it seems like a lot. On top of that, I think it's a case of 2000AD can be very hard to get into because the stories never run for the same lengths. You might have a 6 part Dredd story alongside a one-off, a two-parter and a four-parter. It's only when the stars align (as it were) that jumping on to buy weekly is possible. Catching up is something I think Rebellion/2000AD still haven't quite worked out how to do. I would rather be able to buy digital packs of stories than have to spend £2 per digital copy (little more for print) to get four pages of a comic and loads else I might not read.

And, to boot, it seems Anderson has been resigned to the Megazine, and Boo Cook is on art (plus they're still going nuts over a younger Anderson). Oy.

    Just my thoughts, anyway.
