Default "Rumbles: The RP" - Sign up and discussion thread

Yep, I'm going to give this one a shot.

"The City of Khazan, the central nexus of Omniverse. Eventually all travellers find it. For some, the total of their interaction is a glimpse of towers in the sky, dotted amongst the clouds, they dismiss it as light and shadow or some other completely rational explanation, to others it is a dream, an achievement, something they spend their whole lives attempting to find, but they fail, and to some, the lucky few, though "lucky" is highly subjective term, it is home.

The city itself is infinite, an infinite thriving metropolis contained within finite walls, infinity packed into a diameter of some hundred miles across. Understandably this presents quite a mathematical problem to anyone who thinks about it for more than a minute, hence the city works on the basis of observation, that is; if it is observed then it exists, if it isn't then... well then it's something else. Hence from the outside the city is constantly shifting and changing, buildings folding into, out of and through one another without any kind of regard for any conventional laws of physics.

The pride of the city, of Khazan itself is the famous arena wherein the greatest battles in the Omniverse are fought. The arena itself also shifts size to accomodate the crowd, the fighters and whatever else the creators of said conflict have decided to include. This only serves to add to the heaving, rippling, churning, kick-to-the-teeth of physics that is Khazan.

Now, the most important thing within Khazan, aside from gateways to everywhere and anywhen, shops that cover the entire bredth of imagination, the largest collection of bars and pubs in one place in the known Omniverse and beings from every possible walk of life one could imagine, was the group known colloquially by the locals as the Rumblers.

The Rumblers, named doubly so for their penchant for hanging around the arena and fighting each other at the drop of a hat, were officially known as the Knights of Khazan. The Knights of Khazan were an elite force, not the absolute strongest or beings, nor the smartest, nor the most cunning or even the best in a moral sense. They were however the last line of defence for reality. They were the men and women who had, between them, seen it all before, done it all before and were still looking for new ways to do it. They went to the places that no mortal should go, they did things that no man should do and they drank things that no human should consume.

Amongst their ranks were gods, demons, concepts, warriors, teachers, smiths and a cornicopia of others. It was their job to safeguard the balances of the multiverses, to maintain the continued existance of everything and do what must be done. They sometimes worked in plain sight, sometimes behind the scenes, sometimes saving millions, sometimes dooming thousands. They did whatever it took to safeguard the future.

They were heroes and they were monsters but above all: they were The Rumblers.

There have been many ages of Knights of Khazan and this is but one story of one age."

Yeah, so if you made it through that I thought I'd give this a shot since it should be fun if we get enough people to sign up.

If you are interested then you must provide a character bio, I shall use my own as an example:

    Name: Nik Hasta
Race: Deity. God Of Pirates and Seas.
    Height (normally): 6'1"
    Weight (normally): 13 stone
Physical description (Picture and description if possible):

Nik Hasta is normally seen wearing a pair of extremely old and ragged denim shorts, sandals and a large dark leather coat. He has three scars in a claw-mark like shape across the left-hand side of his jaw and a metal eyepatch in the shape of a skull over his right eye. He has three silver rings piercing his left ear and is always carrying an extremely large cutless. His hair is long and blonde, almost reaching his waist, and his beard is usually trimmed short.

Biography (Be as detailed as possible and include how you came to Khazan and your role in the Knights of Khazan if you can): "As long as there as been oceans, as long as there has been tides, as long as there has been the mystery and unfathomable wonder of the seas, Nik Hasta has been. Though he has not always been known by the name Nik Hasta, God of the Oceans realised quite early on that it, for he did not have commonly used first-person gender pronoun at that point, quite liked sentient lifeforms and took great interest when they plowed his waters and incarnated himself to learn more about them.

Over time he became less divine and more entranced with the human way of life, particularly the life of a pirate which had a curious romantic attraction to it. He eventually became a captain of great reknown, being known by such names as Edward Teach, Davy Jones, Bluebeard and James Hook, all were him in different forms and all were different periods of his existance. However, like all immortals, after a while he felt he had outgrown the planet he had incarnated on and began to stretch the ancient divine muscles that had long lain dormant.

After much probing the firmament of reality and caling out in the ancient language of the gods themselves his efforts paid off. The result was that he made contact with the Omniverse, becoming one with all seas everywhere and becoming patron god of all pirates everywhere and everywhen. He swiftly constructed a ship made from his own body and set off into the unknown, seeking to find endless adventure, meet new people and beings and found a new, reality spanning empire of piracy.

Like many traversers of reality he eventually happened upon the nexus and discovered the Knights. Or more the Knights, slightly concerned by his ever-growing empire, came to him. They put it to Nik Hasta that his true loyalties lay to defending his new and enormous family from threats to the entirety of existance and as god he should not shirk his responsibilities. Nik Hasta, seeing a formidable opponent in the organisation of Knights joined up happily and scaled down his expansionist tendancies somewhat.

Since that day Nik has been solid member of the Knights. His rebellious spirit has mellowed since then and he is now one of the more reasonable members of the Knights. He heeds summons when they are given and takes on any job given to him. His official position is of explorer since his reality traversing ship makes him particularly suited to the task. With an infinite amount of worlds to police, new data is always needed so Nik Hasta and his vast armada form a gigantic information gathering system that constantly updates the Knights with new realities, new threats and new treasures."

Powers/Skills/Abilities: - Hydrokinesis. Nik Hasta is capable of psychically controlling, creating and becoming water. He is the god of the seas and this is one of his strongest powers. He can control water all across an entire planet with great precision.
    - Weather Control. Nik can make storms, summon lightning, tornadoes, hurricanes and sunshine with a thought. At a comfortable maximum he can blanket a planet in storms. The weather at sea is tied psychotropically to his mood.
    - The Eye of Storms: Nik's right eye is normally sealed beneath his eyepatch. However as he gets serious the skull opens its mouth and his power pours out. The Eye of Storms allows Nik to seal either specific powers of his enemies or drag their overall power down his level. This obviously doesn't work if the has a mastery of psonic defences or has their own high-powered sealing abilities. The Eye also allows Nik to project deep oceanic pressure onto beings around him, even if they can breathe underwater they will find themselves drowning and unable to move from the pressure.
    - Drama Aura: Reality itself will conspire for Nik have dramatic-looking battles. Convenient ropes or chandaliers to swing from, bullets will ricochet wildly around him but not hit, windows to smash through, explosions happening in the background, all these things will happen in abundance should Nik be in an appropiate environment.
    - Speed: As he can control lightning, Nik tops out in speed by momentarily infusing himself with speed of lightning. This requires him to consciously amp himself though his normal speed is solid bullet timer.
    - Strength: Class 50.
    - Durability: Cass 30
    - Place of Power: When aboard his ship and at sea, both which are composed of his body in a metaphysical sense, Nik becomes much more powerful. His sealing abilities become much harder to resist, his drama aura becomes much less subtle and the pressure exterted by his Eye of Storms becomes much stronger. Nik is also aware of anything that is said or happens onboard his ship, can teleport anywhere aboard and can reshape the ship as he sees fit at will. The ship can travel to and on any kind of sea. Right down to a conceptual level, though the more sketchy the link the harder it is to do.
    - Swordplay: On his world Nik helped invent swordplay, specfically with a cutless. Nik is a master swordsman and has a particular skill at cutting the clothes of the bodies of young ladies.
    - Longlivedness: Nik Hasta is immortal. As long as the seas exist somewhere in the Omniverse he will endure. However maintaining a physical form is taxing on him and regenerating fatal damage too his form too many times over will cause him to collapse into the oceans across countless realities and have to recouperate which could take thousands if not millions of years and he will lose huge portions of his memories and abilities in the process.

Weaknesses (Yes this category is mandatory): - Psychic attacks: While his mind is complicated, mostly because he isn't human and he is so ancient, Nik has no mental defences. He can withstand an ameteurish psychic assault with considerable effort since he is strong-willed but any profficient psychic can defeat him fairly easily.
    - Ninjas: Ninjas disrupted the power of his pirate waveform with their attacks making regeneration harder and his attacks much less effective. The God of Ninjas, the Silent One, is his mortal enemy and the one who scarred his face.
    - Compassion for his crew: Nik loves his crew. He will do anything to protect them and can easily be manipulated by them. His crew are powerful and most can take care of themselves, in fact several are still trying to kill their captain to try and take his place. But he loves them dearly and they are a weakness just as they are a source of strength for him.
    - Being in space: While space is thought of as a kind of sea; getting ones head round when one is the embodiment of the traditional oceans is quite difficult hence Nik Hasta's powers are much weaker in space. He can go there and survive there well enough but his powers are greatly weakened.

Powercap is... I don't know really. Let me lay down a few rules about powers to help.

    - NOTHING THAT IS A NO LIMITS FALLACY. No "kills everything", no infinite regeneration, no indestructableness. Your character must be able to be hurt and defeated by conventional attacks so there is an element of danger to the story.
    - NO REALITY WARPING ON A LARGE SCALE. Maximum level for reality warping is planetary and that is maximum as in "Your character runs the risk of killing themselves in the process by doing this,"
    - NO POWERS COMING OUT OF NOWHERE. What you write on your list is final. There will be no pulling powers out of the air. By all means give yourself something with a lot of scope or multiple powers if you like, but once you have something stick to it.
    - TRY AND BE INTERESTING. I'd like ever Rumber to be something unique and interesting. Obviously speed and strength are going to be fairly common but try and come up with something that's really specific to you.

Anyhow, powercap is sort of at the level of current Thor. Powerful, a real threat to a planet but not planet-busting without extreme effort on your part.

So yeah... this is just to see how many people are interested in this. That's a lot of information I've just dumped on you.

So yeah, Sign up if you're interested! :D

Fuck yes, I've been waiting for a RPG like this.

Question, race-wise, what are our options?

These two parts seem to contradict. Either way, I'm interested. I just wish I had a good persona to base a character off of.
    ANTS!

Whatever you like as long as it is within the powerlimit.

I reference you to current Thor almost killing himself to bring back all the Asgardians across the planet and having to go into the Thorsleep to survive.

That kind of level though, serious mojo but not casually done and on a planetary scale at maximum.

Either way, I'm interested. I just wish I had a good persona to base a character off of.
This is your chance to carve one out for yourself!

*smacks head* Oy, I think I actually read that issue too. Memory's going.

I suppose I can muster up a decently dickish indirect character.

Does it half to be ourselves in Rumbler form or can it be another OC? Cuz I have a bio for another character who'd be more interesting my redundant pants joke.

Ideally I'd prefer it if it was you. But if it's to make the difference between you joining and not joining, by all means use an OC proxy.

Maybe you could combine the two?

Can you at least keep you being raised in a spider colony with no trousers in your bio, I love that part to your poster persona!

Excellent! Post your bio/description/powers/etc.. as per my example when you've got it together.

I have to sleep now but I will answer any and all questions tomorrow.

I'm more likely to succumb to the power gaming arms race if its me, as I don't want to see myself get the shit kicked out of. But if you'd prefer otherwise.

    I don't think a magic-wielding, denim-slinging, pantsless skunkgirl would really work.

Well, I was gunna use my Imaginary self, but he's probably less entertaining. Sharkerbob it is.

Ok some questions first, I know three of my characters are out as one is an angel that is slighty beyond Galactus in power in sealed form and beyond eternity in unsealed form and two others are twins that are a roughly Thanos level. So they are gone correct?

Second how many characters can you have? I've got somewhere around 5-10 can I use them all or is it one per person?

This looks interesting. Unfortunately, I can't really use my normal poster persona, since... well, it's a wee bit over the power limit. Of course, depending on how loosely one defines "poster persona", I guess I could just use the moderately more depressed version of myself that I tend to project while on this board. But, what would my powers be? An aura that makes everyone around me emo?

    ...

I could always use an OC proxy. Most of those have powersets that are better defined; thus, said characters would be easier to translate than any hypothetical 'semi-real' version of myself.
