    Number one, etc.

CC's original run introduced a lot of ideas and injected the book with tons of bisexuality, alternative lifestyles (BDSM), and cultures (re: accents), but a lot of that run is filler.

Morrison's run has been a filler also. He worked in the constraints of CC's frame, never willing to go beyond it and excusing it as "history repeats itself."
Subtext was more interesting than the actual pastiche of iconic X-stories.

I was a fan of the Xbooks before, and I still loved loved loved Morrison's New X-Men. It's my favorite run with Claremont's classic run *just* behind in terms of my own enjoyment. To be fair, Morrison's run depended on CC's established run, so I'd rank them both at the top, but Morrison's NXM is the most I've ever enjoyed the X-books and the only time I had that "OMG need then ect one NOWWWWW!" feeling from a non-Kirkman Image book in...wow, a long time.

I second Ingonyama's feelings on this topic... The Morrison era indeed had pros and cons (More cons than pros as far as I am concerned). But, Marvel doesn't very often reset the "status quo" as they like to (new writers that is) unnecessarily retcon other writers hard work; not that all retcon are troubling to continuity but, if editorial has to step in and mandate a retcon in order to the wipe out an entire arc thus making things nonsensecal... That is bad! Now, we have a gaggle of "Teen X-Men" and cloned Teen Mutants such as "Kid Apocalypse" -- and were told (those who pay attention to origins) that these X-Men are not the same people. Well, if they (with the exception of present proper clones) if you pulled them from the past within the 616 timeline they are the same people sans the memories and experiences of their future selves.

Ex., If Jean Grey was pulled out of the past within 616 time stream after Annie Richardson was struck and killed by that car which consequently unlocked Jean's telepathic powers -- that event still happened and that would also mean that the potential for her to bond with the Phoenix Force can still occur... All it would take is an event that pushes her to the brink of death -- that's all there is to it. Ironically, that would also solve the timing of Rachel's birth in the future.

Moreover, had the writer(s) or editorial had came right out and said that "Teen" Jean wasn't from the past of the 616 timeline she would not be the same girl because she's be from an altogether different timeline. What worse still is that they went that route with Rachel stating that she was unique in the Multiverse -- yet there are several instances of Rachel in multiple timelines. And, in 99.9998% of the instances listed Jean Grey and Scott Summers are listed to be her parents. And that's my...

my take on his run was that he had some very interesting takes and really turned things up side down and freshened up the franchise, but some of his storylines and issue felt a little to long and kind of boring. But I did love his line up for the team with Xavier,Cyclops,Jean Grey,Wolverine,Beast and Emma Frost.Pretty much in my eyes the best line up ever in a X-Men title with five of the six biggest X-Men(would have like Storm to be on the team to complete the big six) and love the twist with Magneto only for it to be swept under the rug.

Where does it rank for you?

Also, on a side note, I am not a big X reader. Loved them as a kid, but haven't been able to get into the comics, aside from this. Any suggestions along the lines of this run, would be very appreciated.
It's just the best. You should also try Pete Milligan's X-Force, Brian Wood's brief X-Men run, Kieron Gillen's Uncanny X-Men and Joe Casey's Uncanny run, which was published in tandem with Morrison's run.
