Default New Ongoing - Iron Man: Legacy, By Van Lente And Kurth

Marvel has announced through IGN a new Iron Man ongoing called Iron Man: Legacy, by Fred Van Lente and Steve Kurth, which will feature standalone story arcs that are set at varying points in Iron Man's career.

    Here's a link: http://comics.ign.com/articles/105/1053103p1.html

    and the cover:

    As for my two cents:

I'm not all that interested in another Iron Man ongoing or it's premise(especially when I'm not even reading the first ongoing, and one of my favorites, War Machine, just got cancelled). However, I really enjoy Van Lente's work (both at Marvel and independently) and Steve Kurth's art on Ultimate Armor Wars has been amazing (though since that book has been delayed a lot I don't see how they expect this to ship on time).

This is one of the rare instances where a creative team can get me to buy a book I have no interest in. Can't wait!
Someone once told me that time was a predator that stalked us all our lives. I rather believe that time is a companion who goes with us on the journey and reminds us to cherish every moment, because it'll never come again. What we leave behind is not as important as how we've lived. After all, we're only mortal. - Jean-Luc Picard

In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and has been widely regarded as a bad move. - The Guide

Hopefully this is Van Lente in his Marvel Adventures mindset as opposed to something more serious in line with regular MU books.

Pretty cool, but this makes me think we wont have Tony as Iron Man for a while now. This reminds me of Batman Confidential.

Why? Batman Confidential was around before we didn't have Bruce as Batman.

Sounds interesting but I'm not sure if I'd buy it just yet.

They should have called it Iron Man: First Armor....... get it?

Anyway, they did the same thing back when Iron Man 1 came out, they had 2 IM on-goings.

Oh look, an Iron Man book I can read AND get excited for! Heck yeah!

Please don't be $3.99, please, please, please...
This just in: Chris Sprouse has pulled out of Orson Scott Card.

Love the new armor that Steve Kurth designed! It looks like a mix of the movie armor, and his modern extremis one, man Kurth is great at drawing Ironman, and his armors.

I read the article, and it seems pretty good. He said that Crimson Dynamo, Titanium Man, and the Melter are going to be in his first arc, which I'm going to have to check out just for them. I can't wait to see how Kurth designed their armors! I also wonder if this is our first glimpse of the new Iron Man design?

Fred Van Lente is a rising voice at Marvel. A good voice.

I am surprised they are doing a "Legacy" book for Iron Man. I will keep an eye on it.

I don't think Tony is going anywhere. This is purely a book to capitalize off the upcoming movie. I like the creative team, I'll check it out.
We'll see if the market can handle 2 solo books. IIM only sells around 50K. Maybe the first few issues of IML will do OK, but I can see this settling in low 30s/high 20s.
