What's your view on Abridged series? What are your favorite ones?

Which series are being abridged, and why? And are you talking about anime or manga?

If you mean something like DragonBall Kai, where the pacing and events are being re-edited to more closely match the manga, I'm not sure I have a problem with that. Filler episodes tend to be of lesser quality and often create an upset in the story's pacing. If you're a crazy fan of an anime series over it's original manga I can see why you'd feel they were taking away something "extra", but so far I haven't heard about filler material being buried or anything... there's just two editions available, one that's loaded with fat and one that runs as lean as the original story.

Make no mistake, that sort of scenario is as mostly about re-packaging existing content in order to revive it's revenue potential.

What's your view on Abridged series?

Generally, I find them to be too smug for their own good- sorta like the later years of Mystery Science Theater 3000.

The funny part about a number of them is if someone made a remake of any of the series using a good abridged series as a basis for what needs to be fixed, altered and done away with being that a number of the good ones point of the plot holes in a series, you'd wind up with an even better series.

Inuyasha Abridged is also noteworthy. Though, it scares me that Inuyasha is the only intelligent character in the entire series. Inuyasha's God is also apparently drinking buddies with Abridged Popo.

I'm also glad that LK isn't touching Yugioh GX because these guys totally have it covered. Sonic X Abridged also shows substantial promise.
