Default O/T How Good is the Green Arrow Black Canary book? How well is it selling?

I was curious to know if anyone was buying this series. I was thinking of putting this on my pull list.

    What say you?

I'm quite a bit behind, but I love Mike Norton's art!

It's terrible, and it's selling extremely poorly. Less than 18000 copies.

The art is good, the rest...not so much. I may be a little biased, because the whole marriage thing that created the book was really forced IMO, but the story itself has been pretty bad and forgettable since it's start.

It was good, IMO, when Winick was writing it as essentially "Green Arrow Family," including Ollie, Dinah, Conner, and Mia. There was a lot of interaction, a lot of humor, some fun villains.

I dropped it when Winick left, but from flipping through some issues and reading reviews and the like, it seems to have really fallen apart.

    Wow that is sad.

I was looking at my DCUC action figures of Black Canary and Green Arrow, and thought "Hey my first Wife and Husband team. I wonder how their comic is doing" I think they are really cool characters and LOVED the way Gail wrote them in the JLU episode.

I hate to come off as flip, but with this one I gotta. That poop over there on the sidewalk? It's better than a good deal of the GA/BC book has been. I know that's harsh, but its been not just disappointing, but at times almost painful to read.

The art (versus the plots and the characterization) hasn't been BAD, but that's not enough to "sell" me on it.

It was a shame, because I actually liked the last year or so of the last solo Green Arrow book (which had Canary in it a lot anyway). But when the book's focus and title shifted, when it was reengineered as this new thing, something went subtly wrong. And when another creative team took over after Winick, even more went wrong. And it just got worse and worse (at least I think so from the issues I could bear buying--now, instead its on the short list of titles I flip through at the store and laugh at while people stare at me--so I admit its a much less close knowledge since half the time its just speed reading and lots of choking).

This Kreisberg guy doesn't seem to know ANYTHING about the character of Black Canary. Nothing from years of Birds of Prey, and precious little from her Green Arrow book appearances. Not that Ollie comes off much better.

Well Spiffy if you harsh about it like that it HAS to be bad.

Damn. Thanks for the heads up

The book is an atrocity. Just visit the Green Arrow board at the DC boards to get a taste of the hate for it. The boring and undetailed pencils combined with bright and garish coloring don't help matters either.

Wow, and here I thought, (and I am going by some posters insulting comments), Gail Simone's Wonder Woman was the worst thing since the creation of The Devil.

I genuinely cannot read an issue without wanting to throw it against the wall. Any issue.

AMAZING art, though. DAT art. So good.

:-/ I'll buy anything with Black Canary in it, but I've been really disappointed with the writing. I just don't feel like Kreisberg has a grasp on the characters, much less their history.

I'm particularly baffled why a schlocky villain like Cupid has been in the past TEN issues. She's essentially a third co-star, when she should have been a one-shot filler villain.

The book is horrible. The writer has destroyed GA and BC. The art is not my fave. It looks plain and uninspired.

It does kinda suck. I'm only sticking with it cause BC is one of my favorite characters. As a newly wed myself, I was really excited to see how it would play out, but this current story arc is very difficult to follow. I really didn't like Winick's run, cause it was all "Omg daddy issues" and bad writing of the plot. The sketch-style art = atrocious.

I'm just holding out for something good to happen in the book. I'd drop it, but I like Dinah and Speedy too much.
