    Default CBR: Cup O' Joe - Dec 4, 2009

Joe Quesada takes CBR behind the scenes and shows us the process he used to create his four interlocking covers for "Siege," from the initial Iron Man sketch that the concept sprang from to the final penciled artwork.

What do you mean, I think this stuff is great!!! I think it's fascinating, and sort of mind-blowing, to see a top notch artist break down their process.

And on a side note... yeah, looks like Sentry is gunning for Osborn! That cheers me up a little...

I like seeing the process as well. I'm looking forward to seeing the inked and then colored versions. Say what you will about JoeQ, but he draws real nice.

(I personally think he's a great EiC, too, but I guess I better not open that can of worms in this thread.)

(Except he hasn't mandated vol. 2s for X-Statix and Nextwave. What the hell, man. Anyways, back on topic.)

    Very awesome.

I love it when artists pull back the curtain and show their creative process, and it's almost always uniformly amazing when Quesada does art these days.

And I especially like Joe showing his photo refs, so that people can see the way photo referencing SHOULD be done, and to clearly demonstrate the differences between using your own photo refs vs. tracing.

    Default Wow.

I just want to say it's 6:10 right now, I'm at work, got off at 6, and stayed at work to finish reading that blog.

Absolutely amazing piece, and for someone who draws, just got a tablet, and has been fooling around with Photoshop as well, an absolute treat to watch the process.

With that said, I'm heading out to find a beer.

Love seeing the whole process breakdown here, even the reference shots. (you're abrave man, Joe! )

Curious too that Iron Man is in his classic Red/Golds...

Yeah, I too find it really interesting to see Sentry in there. Clearly he's integral to the Siege storyline, I wonder if this gives credence to the claim that an Avenger will fall in the first issue? (Sorry, can't remember where I heard this prediction). Would make sense in a few ways but might be a tad obvious?

Looks like Iron Man is in, what, the Classic Armor... again?

Very cool look into the process of his work. You can't deny that he is a damn fine artist!
