For those of you that aren't familiar with the term "Jumping the Shark"
, it's a derogatory term derived from the old 60's television show Happy Days, where "the Fonz" does a stunt where he jumps over a tank with a shark in it. That episode has been forever symbolic of instances were a show, a book, or any other ongoing franchise has taken a turn for the worse from bad writing or lack of creativity, and will resort to any gimick to prolong the inevitable all-time low, in a worse case scenario, marking the end of that franshise.
You have to admit there have been and are some crazy things going on in the X-Men universe. And over the 40 years of existence, we've put up with some of the most outlandish things writers have come up with just to preserve and freshen up the franchise.
For me, the creation of the X-Babies would certainly qualify as jumping the shark.
What about you?
