Just curious, do they say why these new Wildcat aliens are invading earth instead of heading home?

Part of me hopes that this somehow leads to a new Wetworks title, and part of me knows that if it does, that title will just get cancelled again in a year or so anyway. I know that is cynical, but it's still true.

I'm hoping for something Team Achilles related.

So far we don't even know for sure who the aliens are much less why they want Earth.

Yeah we do. We see that they're all off-shoots of the Wildcats. Their home Khera is fine, last time I checked, so why don't they just go to it?

I believe grif is talking about this part of the article.

To get the ball rolling, the new direction of the series launches with the threat of dual alien invasions hitting the broken WildStorm Earth, necessitating Spartan and the WildCats to call in reinforcements in a big way. "We don't want to give away too much of the surprise, because some of the fun is finding out who the invaders are and how they're dealt with – both of which we think the audience will get a big kick out of," Beechen teased. "I will say that both are existing alien forces we have met before, one of which we've been building up to for quite a while in terms of their invasion. The others are players that have been on the scene [in the past] and make a bit of a surprising return."

    Default WildCORE

I just don't understand why they would put "WildCore" in the same category than Gen13. I would love to see those characters again, though, and their place would be on the WildCAT team. I mean, it was a spin-off, right? And it was never really clear if it was Backlash or Zealot who was REALLY in charge. Now that the old Backlash is working with the WildCATs and that his daughter, the new Backlash is officially part of the team, as well as Zealot, they gotta bring the rest of WildCore in. More than that: what about the alien race they where fighting at the time... Could they be the other alien species trying to invade Earth now?

    HOPE SO!

I think in the Newsarama interview they stated that one of the alien groups would be the Red Blade cast from the last issue of Stormwatch and that the arc would be called Red Blade.

I wonder if there are enough fans to sustain a tile if they combined two like Marvel's Cable and Deadpool. For instance, Wetworks and Stormwatch - if they combined them would each title have enough fans combined to survive or does it mainly crossover so much that both titles have the same fans. I haven't read Wetworks before, but I'm curious about the period that Mike Carey wrote it. I'll probably buy the back issues in a few months to see how good it is.

Oh, I'm sorry. I misunderstood the question. Actually Khera is not fine. It was taken over by the Daemonites as seen in Wildcats Vol. 4 #1 (the 2006 title currently in limbo by Jim Lee and Grant Morrison).

I got the trades for it. They're not bad. It's different from the original Wetworks because you've got a new team so it's not as military themed, it's more supernatural themed when Carey wrote it.

I kinda doubt that's canon really.

Actually it is. That's why Majestic sported the same look he did in the Lee/Morrison comic that he does at the beginning of the current series.

And I remember Lord Defile talking about Khera being under Daemonite control either during the Wildcats arc he was just in or the World's End backup story he had.

The Carey period of the title was enjoyable, although I have to admit that the book lost a good bit of "oomph" after Portacio left. It does have a more supernatural tone than a militaristic tone, but it definitely feels "connected" to the old title.
