That was a longtime ago in the 1980's after Carol became Binary and left the Earth. It would be cool to see Monica and Carol working together in a possible story arc. I could certainly see them becoming good friends. Afterall, Monica was once a leader of the Avengers at that time.

Every time someone posts a new picture of the new costume, one or two people will respond and say "Actually, it's not that bad", and I wonder if maybe I'm being too harsh by still thinking it's awful on every conceivable level.

Heh. Couldnt agree more. I finally saw the Ms. Marvel episode of A:EMH and it was bittersweet because while so awesome I could only be reminded "WHHYYYYYYY?!!!!"

Ms. Marvel began her career as an offshoot of Captain Marvel. Military woman Carol Danvers was exposed to dangerous Kree technology and eventually gained incredible powers. She quickly moved out from under Captain Marvel's shadow and became a long-standing member of the Avengers.

Ms. Marvel's appeal doesn't center around her powers so much as her ability to overcome incredible trials and tribulations. Carol has suffered a number of tragedies in her career, from the infamous Marcus incident to her fateful encounter with Rogue and the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. But every time, Carol has bounced back and renewed her desire to become Earth's mightiest hero. She may just reach that goal. One of the results of Avengers vs. X-Men will be a new set of abilities, a new costume, and even a new name for Carol Danvers. Now rechristened as the new Captain Marvel, Carol continues to build her own heroic legacy.
