I can't believe there is such a thread like this.

I will fully admit to being cynical, mainly because I'm used to seeing threads where people are attacking Carol-- making disgusting comments about her uniform and her sexuality -- rather than lauding her.

Nonetheless, on ya, OP. I'm glad this thread exists.

I really like Ms. Marvel, sadly I haven't enjoyed her book in a long time.

It's a shame people say bad things about her. They don't know her story . She's beautiful and strong. They must feel threatened by her skills and powers.her uniform is sexy and shows her might.

Ms Marvel has the potential to be Marvel's first lady and she'll be!

I've always wondered this: why do Ms. Marvel fans constantly say "she's beautiful"??? Surely... ALL Marvel heroes are the peak of human perfection? (minus one or two like the Blob and Gertrude Yorkes) How is Ms. Marvel more or less beautiful than any other woman drawn by various artists? It just seems so... "cliched feminism" to constantly say "she's so beautiful, she's so strong and powerful." So's Rogue. Moonstone. She-Hulk. Pretty much any female hero with super strength. What makes Carol more/less beautiful... other than being a fan?

    Carol:
    a) needs to be promoted to Captain Marvel!!! It's time she got the status she deserves; and a rank/career boost. It would go well with her military background.
    b) and she needs writers to stop wasting time on her faults as a hero (such as her alcoholism), and focus on her strength. I'm not saying make her perfect; but between rape and alcoholism, couldn't we have her drama come from supervillains master plans, rather than personal baggage?
    c) why not delve deeper into her military roots? I never see her dialogue/action reflect a person who's served in the military.
    d) she needs to leave the Avengers behind, and become more like Nova; a solo hero, who joins the Guardians of the Galaxy on occasions.

Agred with all you said!!! Really.. just think she may still remain an Avenger.. but work solo sometimes.

For her beauty.. it's taste innit? I don't think Rogue and She Hulk are very beautiful... they're just great for me. Ms Marvel has supermodel looks as Psylocke does.

Carol as Captain Marvel? What a terrible idea. Bad enough that she's a direct derivative of the original Captain Marvel, but to have her actually adopt his name? Wow, way to stand on your own there, Carol. If she keeps changing her codename like, she's gonna get a reputation for being indecisive/wishy-washy.

Carol is a fantastic character, with a lot of depth and history to her, but she was never gonna fulfill her potential under Brian Reed. He doesn't know what to do with her. She spent the ENTIRE series angsting over being "not good enough", and frankly, I'm sick of seeing such a strong character constantly criticizing herself. Get over it, Carol, and BE the best.

Default About Time For A Ms. Marvel Appreciation!!

I read alot of books each week and Ms. Marvel has easily been in my top five for a while now. I love the story line and the art work is right on the money. I don't understand how people who love to read comics do not pick this one up. My first three books I pick up are (not nessasarily in order) Ms. Marvel, Captain America and Amazing Spiderman. They I go for the rest. I guess some just don't take it serious but it's thier loss because if they took the time to read one they would be hooked. Another couple of pleasent surprises for me are "Black Panther" and "Detective Comics Batwoman". Detictive Comics Batwoman just MIGHT be the best book on the shelves right now. Great writing and the art is spectacular!! Check it out if you haven't had the chance. Talk to you later.

I think there shouldn't be a Captain Marvel, should there be a male Ms Marvel counterpart, he'd have be named Mr Marvel. I'd love it if Carol had a kid and he'd become Mr Marvel.

Oh, come on, we could all say that about our favourite comics. I love Thunderbolts; but I don't expect people to get it just because it's a great comic. It often comes down to budget, to teams/characters you prefer, and what you've invested in. I've wanted to try Incredible Hercules; and feel maybe Assault on Olympus would be a good jumping on point... but still... I didn't get it. I can't explain why; I'm just not ready to get consumed by another comic, I suppose.

Disagree. I jumped on to Ms. Marvel for the Karla arc; and I have to say I wasn't overly impressed by Reed's work... and I lasted six/seven issues? I gave it a shot; but after Karla left; I wasn't "sad" in dropping the comic. Personally, I've never been a fan of swearing in comics (which Reed does a lot), especially to show "anger"; mainly because it looks silly in comics, no matter who writes it, and the best insults/digs never use swearing. I also felt Reed doesn't capatalise on what he does. He's not a bad writer; but I definitely prefer a lot of other writers, over his work. And the constantly changing artist just grated on me.

    LOL

Iam not against Carol becoming Captain Marvel if that means she achieved her goal of becoming the best of the best. But i DO prefer Ms Marvel name. She's very well known now.. after these 50 issues of solo adventures!!

i think wouldn't be a smart move to change her hero name. Apart from that, she's MUCH MORE famous than Captain Mar-vell. Usually females counterparts aren't as famous as their male one. But this case is absolutely the opposite!! At least whenever i show people Ms Marvel comic or pic they know who she is, the same doesn't happen with Captain Mar-vell.

    GO MS MARVEL!

Wasn't Captain Marvel around before Ms. Marvel? I'm not saying Carol should become a "token" counterpart; but there already has been a female Captain Marvel (wasn't Monica Rambeau one of them?). No-one is named Captain Marvel right now (maybe Noh-var); and it's an iconic Marvel character/name/status that's just hanging there. I think (and again, I could be wrong) but isn't Carol a Captain in the military? So it works two ways. She has the Kree power; and she really should be saving the cosmos, rather than tangling with street level super-villains. Captain Marvel [Carol Danvers] vs. the Silver Surfer!!! BRING IT ON!!!!

But hasn't she changed her name several times already? Would one more hurt? Especially if it's a huge promotion/well earned boost to great heights? She was Warbird when I first "met her" in comics (in New Thunderbolts). And wasn't she Binary at one point?

I understand your point! But she was always known as Ms Marvel since her first days with the Avengers. Warbird and Binary weren't used that long and people really don't know her like that.
Now, after all these 50 issues sticking her name to our minds and promoting her, i think it's not a smart move to change her very first and current hero name.

And yea, Captain Mar-vell was around first. Fortunately, he isn't half as famous as Ms Marvel is.
