Yeah the lightning bolt featured prominently makes a significant difference. It's a defining part of her outfit and independent style to me.

Me too. The artist for the next arc is Felipe Andrade. Here is a preview page from CM #9 (apparently we will finally see Chewie again ).

He was the artist (among others) for Ultimate comics X-Men X-Men 18.1 and Deadpool 63. I think I would prefer Dex, but Felipe is probably not a bad choice. I am willing to give him a chance and wait for issue 9 before I start complaining (or cheering).

Not directly. Carol Danvers is Captain Marvel now, yes. However... there were Captain Marvel(s?) between Monica and Carol.
