Default Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers) Appreciation

    THE BEST OF THE BEST

    EVERYDAY SUPER HERO

Marvel has many females super heroes - but few have been as staunchly feminist as Carol Danvers, aka Ms Marvel.Once,an American Air Forces pilot, she went on a mission for American Governmet. She was trying to find out more about Captain Mar-vell and was cought in a Kree explosion. Her DNA was changed. Her life was changed. She became Ms Marvel. Since then, she has joined the super group Avengers and battled super villains, institutional sexism and inner conflicts caused by her half-Kree nature, and has never given up the fight. This is one girl who's doing it for herself! Through the ability to absorb and channel ambient energy Carol has gained the powers of superhuman strength, endurance, stamina, flight, physical durability and resistance, she can also project photonic blasts and has a limited precognitive "seventh sense". Carol Danvers is also an exceptional espionage agent, hand-to-hand combatant, skilled pilot, markswoman and a talented writer. After the events in Avengers vs X-Men, Carol Danvers was taken to another level. She finally took the mantle of her former friend and lover, Mar-Vell. She's now, the iconic, Captain Marvel!!

Finally we now have a Ms Marvel appreciation thread! We can discuss all about our super hero!!

To start, I LOVED what writer Brian Reed said about the final - :( - Big issue, #50:

“The big issue #50 is the end of a three-year story about Carol’s rise from B-lister

to the most powerful woman in the Marvel Universe.”

Many super heroines do! There's nothing to do with that but with attitude!

That sentence was taken out from an offical Marvel figurine magazine and i TOTALLY agree.

Thank you for creating a thread devoted to the most Marvelous heroine of them all! I plan to contribute often to celebrate the greatness of Carol Susan Jane Danvers.

Nowadays, there are so-called feminists who say that dressing provocatively, posing nude, and even participating in outright porn are all about "embracing your sexuality" and are "empowering to women".

    So, yes.

Yes, and I would choose actress Yvonne Strahovski to portray Ms. Marvel on film.

Her character on the NBC television show "Chuck" is a secret agent who is quite similar to Carol Danvers in many ways. I think Yvonne would do the character great justice!

Psylocke is my heroine since 1993 and Ms Marvel comes right after her... i started to love Ms Marvel reading her mini.. abut 2 years ago.. and o found lots of similar issues between Carol and Betsy!

Not talking about powers here. But beauty, personality, story, sense of humor, mood... And i came here.. found my Psylocke appreciation thread but found NO Ms Marvel's!!!! I created one immmediately!! LOL

I like Ms Marvel. She's that blue collar supergirl with common sense. Marvel has given her many flaws that I think almost undeserved so it should be fair that she gets an elevated status in the universe.

She's the Marvel superheroine of this decade for sure. If anybody talking other female characters as female hero of this decade, they're just being nostalgic.

I'd be a lot more interested in the character if she got a new writer. Reed never really did too much for me.
