Default CBR: Robert Kirkman Takes Over "Pilot Season"

The "Image United" writer talked with CBR News about his and Marc Silvestri's takeover of Top Cow Productions' "Pilot Season" and gave us an exclusive preview of "Murderer," which kicks off "Pilot Season" on December 2.

This is the most boring Pilot Season ever.
Up till now not even one title was interesting enough to actually buy it.

I'd be much more interested if Top Cow had a track record of actually delivering on their projects featuring their previous Pilot Season winners, but they haven't. Past winners have either had their series abandoned, or have never even come out, so why invest in potential future winners if nothing will come of it, thus defeating the entire purpose of Pilot Season?

Granted, with Kirkman on board, the likelihood of the winning title actually getting its follow up is much higher, but part of the past appeal of Pilot Season was seeing a variety of creators make their pitches, including many up and comers.

don't get me wrong, kirkman is one of my favourite comic writers, but isn't the man always hitting on the same button?
"Marvel wouldn't let me do this!"
"Marvel wouldn't let me do that!"
    It gets kinda boring...

Maybe it's just some bad coincidence that he always mentions that on the interviews I read...
That's like saying if all the porn was made by my grandma I would be able to sustain a real relationship.
    (and I can't)

Or he's trying to make sure that those who may come from only reading Marvel and DC that there are limits creators can do there and that Image (and other creator owned publishers) have no such limitations.

Kirkman's good, but I'm starting to get tired of seeing him all over the place. Almost reminds me of Bendis....

They used that same line for a number of past winners without delivering...and I'm more interested in seeing the real winner of last year, Twilight Guardian.

Twilight Guardian is also on its way.

    And thanks!
Writer of Common Grounds, Twilight Guardian, and lots of other stuff. Nothing on the stands at the moment, but I've lost 35 pounds (probably from poverty).

Ugh, I wanna read some new stuff from new writers. This has become a Kirkman showcase! Has he just monopolized the field?!?

I refuse to touch another "pilot season" issue until velocity comes out. Until they do I consider it a broken contract (the contract being "you fans vote for a winner and we'll put out a series for the winner")

The artist and writer BOTH have said they were working on the series that Top Cow PROMISED, and were shut down by the company's execs with no explanation. Inexcusable.

And for anybody that says "it's coming out so and so", I'll believe it when I'm holding it.

Kirkman is top notch writer but im fine with his regular comics.

I will give last years winners a chance before giving more money to Kirkman.

Velocity is coming in 2010. For sure. Believe it whenever you want.

And for what it's worth, your understanding of what happened on the previous Velocity series is incorrect.
