Default CBR: Hero Initiative "Covers" Hannigan

I've already ordered my copy and hope others do the same. Ed has been my favorite cover artist for years and his interior art at both Marvel and DC is some of the best stuff from the 70's and 80's era to be found out there. I also greatly enjoyed Ed's writing on The Defenders and wish he could have branched out more in that department.

Keep in mind that Ed Hannigan drew the interlocking covers for the very first edition of The Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe. That was eventually released as a wall poster and it remains his magnum opus to this day.

I wish Ed the very best of luck, he truly is one of the unsung greats in the biz. Let him know it.

I always thought Ed was right up there with Carmine Infantino as one of the all-time great cover designer/artists. Ed's covers for Spectacular Spider-Man, Batman, Defenders, Flash and the Avengers -- and Thor 329 -- are some of my favorite covers. I've ordered my copy of this book and I'm excited to finally get it.

I am absolutely going to support this.

Ed’s art was a big part of my Spider-Man days in junior high and high school. Seeing the covers to “Amazing Spider-Man” #251 and “Peter Parker” #64, 69-70 (awesome stories and interior art as well!) brought me right back to those days. Buying a few copies for myself, friends and family is the least I can do for a man who had such an impact on my young imagination. Here’s to this being a huge success!

I put up a posting earlier, but the HI is looking for original Hannigan art work for a gallery showing for him.

    Interesting project.

I know that Ed was a groundbreaking cover designer and artist. I liked the few issues of the Defenders he illustrated. He also wrote some issues that were illustrated by Herb Trimpe, but those aren't among my favorites.

One of Marvel's great cover artists from the 70s was Gil Kane. His covers were so energetic -- often much better than what was printed inside. I'd love to see his best covers collected in a coffee table book.
