wow, the art looks badass...
but it sure does feel kind of like a Fables knock-off... I'm sure people have said that before... I already missed preordering this; it's too bad previews like this don't come out prior to having to preorder as I would have definitely given it a shot.
If I see it around tho, I'll pick it up
EDIT: I take it back! not too late to pre-order! :)

No one responds to street art anymore.
People tend to respond to things like loaded guns in their faces.
That and celebrity spokesmodels.
Hell, that looks utterly amazing!! - Fairytales are always good for new versions and this looks incredible - why did I not hear of this before??![]()

Oh, gee . . . um . . . another one of those comic book projects that hinges on the taking of familiar characters from folklore, children's literature and nursery rhymes and making them considerably darker and more adult.
No offense to this specific project, but I always have a few issues with these types of comics. I understand the desire to often show off these characters without the rather sugar-sweetened "Disney-ish" veneer they've developed over the years. However, I find sometimes they go a little too far, particularly in the depiction of characters from children's literature (Pinocchio, Alice in Wonderland, the tales of H.C. Andersen, etc.) which are actually created from whole cloth and are not subject to the changability of folk tales. Also, I find the tendency to trade on the shock of changing the familiar rather than introducing readers to unfamiliar characters a bit disheartening (Grimm's Fairy Tales is a collection of over 200 stories, only about a dozen of are well-known to modern people).
Still, I wish the authors of this comic the best of luck in this endeavor. I'm sure there's a ready and willing audience for this book. I'm not sure it'll be something I'll pick up, but the mileage of others will vary.
I've got a lot of radicals books - they can sometimes be hard to find though. This new one does look amazing and is now on my pull list
Hi Mad Erwin. Legends: The Enchanted #0 will be on sale in January 2010 and is in the November issue of Diamond Previews. There will be design extras in this #0 issue as well as the first 20-something (Sorry I don't know specifically) pages of story from the upcoming one shot graphic novel of Legends: The Enchanted that will be released in April 2010.
I am not entirely sure if all the pages in the article will be in the #0. I do know the character pages are a given but not sure if the interior sequential pages are from those early pages of the book.
AdamYJ, while the characters are a reinvention of the familar, the story is entirely new. I encourage you to spend that $1 to just see if it's your thing rather than just dismiss it outright.

Perhaps I'll pick up the one dollar preview book if I can find it. However, I hope you understand my hesitance. I even take issue with the multiple Eisner-winning series Fables from Vertigo, especially with their depiction of Kay from "The Snow Queen". As an amateur storyteller and all-around folk and fairy tale buff, I'd like to think I've spent enough time with the genre to express some valid concerns.
this looks to be the best nick has put out yet, i damm sure will be git'n this series as soon as it comes outi can't believe its only $1
Should be out by the end of the month. Please note that this an issue #0 introduction comic. It's a regular size 28 page plus cover comic that have the first 22 pages of story along with some really cool extras. The full story will be out in a Hardcover Graphic Novel form in April 2010.
