DC have really got their stuff together these days.

Those countdown to final crisis days are history.

Dan seems far more humble as a writer than he does as EIC

Which 'old school' days were those?

When was this a common method of storytelling?

Early to Mid Eighties, when New Teen Titans and Legion of Superheroes were going strong, and Annuals almost always wrapped up an ongoing storyline.

To me, these "new writers" produce work that ranges from pure crap to mediocre and solid, but nothing impressive. Why don't they give someone like Marc Andreyko a chance on an established character or team insteadt of letting these newbies ruin books like Teen Titans?

I think the problem is that new writers aren't given the chance to play with big ideas. If you look at sterling gates he is so talented but he's at the mercy of what happens with Superman and Flash. Its not like he can build up to a big Supergirl story or Kid Flash story on the same level Robinson, Rucka and Johns can because of the placings of the characters they write in the DC heirarchy.

Psha, last thing we need is another geek-with-power-and-a-swelled-head!

I'm mostly just impressed that Mr. Didio gets any work done. OUTSIDE HIS WINDOW IS A WICKED POSTER, GUYS.

Also, another mentor and mentee: Denny O'Neil and Devin Grayson!
