Nonsense Expert
I still can't figure out how a medium that already struggles to retain readers thinks hiking prices is actually going to grow the ranks of the weekly loyals.
$3.99 books are generally down this month which is good for the non addict consumer, but even the biggest selling book isn't producing "Man That Was awesome" style numbers. The industry looks like it has been cannabalizing itself this year as the overall numbers may be up this month but only because the last few have been depressed, particularly Marvel IMO, even though they still have some of the best writers and their Marvels Project is pretty darn good. When new readers start showing up, I'll feel more safe about the industry as well as the books I like.
Blackest Night is awesome, too. Geoff Johns seems to be hitting his stride at a time without real serious competition. He's going to be a commodity both inside and outside comics if he keeps his quality and pace of production at these levels.
