Everyone should track down a copy of this.

Steranko has been working for sometime on a completely redrawn edition of this. Done in heavy dark pencil (no ink) and simply amazing. I saw some of the originals at the NY Con. He is taking his time, so I don't know when he will publish it.

Yeah, he's been working on it for years. Whenever he makes it, I'll be there!

I just read that Dark Horse will be publishing the original 1976 (newly coloured) version of Red Tide on June 23rd, 2010.

Super news. Any chance to get more hands on Steranko goodness is better for the well being of the world in general!

    Newly colored?
I hope they don't overwhelm the art with overdone computer coloring.

I remember this was listed in the first issue of Previews I ever used for my pull list. That was back in, what, mid '99? You'll forgive me if I don't hold my breath.

I know what you mean. Holding your breath for Steranko items is suicidal! The 1999 edition was going to be re-written and re-drawn and re-coloured. This time it is the original 1976 version, re-coloured and with what I think will be a slightly different design concept.

The re-coloring alone will make this version stand out. The 1975 colors weren't really all that.

    Default dark horse present #3

Dark Horse Presents #3 came out this week, and it includes 13 pages of the re-coloured (and in some panels re-drawn) and re-written Red Tide. It is the entire first chapter. I read it, but really the art overwhelms the writing, as you just want to linger on each single noir panel.
