BW: Deadly Origins #2 was interesting with so many art changes.
I felt bad for Tony and Clint, especially Clint. I didn't really understand the part with him though with the "Icepick" and who it activated with.

Saerched back a few pages and didn't see any discussion of Black Widow & the Marvel Girls. Did a search for Black Widow and found this thread.
So, what's the concensus on this? Personally, I loved it. Recently Widow has been coming off like a wet blanket since she hooked up with Captain Brubaker. She was much colder, confident, and calculating here. The art was a little too manga-y but I enjoyed Widow's character sooo much here.
Are you talking about the first issue or the second? The second issue was great. I mean, I really enjoy Natasha's Captain America appearances (her recent guest stints in other places in the 616, not so much, maybe) so I dunno what to make of the wet blanket comment, but I think the art feels right for the project. Why her zipper was halfway down the entire issue, I'm not sure, but I've still been enjoying the series. It's been nice to see her character showcased without worrying about the continuity hassles, plus, she's just been badass in it.
Natasha's genuinely compassionate around the people she cares about, and that's an aspect of her character I really like that readers don't always get to see. (As it requires her to be around people she cares about.) But, uh, that whole arc where they went to China was full of kickass Natasha moments for me. First she poisoned that guy, then she yelled at Bucky and wrote off the Invaders as incompetent, then she rescued everyone and was all, "don't flip out so much, it's just a broken neck." She's been consistently shown as an extremely capable agent and is the book's voice of reason/BS detector. So, I'm gonna have to disagree with you on that count.
The first issue featured the Enchantress and flashbacks to Natasha's childhood. I think I liked the second issue better, because including the Amora in her origin is a bit weird even outside of continuity, but if you liked issue 2 you'll probably enjoy issue 1 :)
Agree with you.
The art wasn't my cup o joe. Seemed aimed at the kiddies, but the storyline was very mature. This series would have been much better servered by a more traditional artist.
Bru's Widow is very much the supporting character -- and kinda dull over in Captain America. When she's partnering with a male characer, they always play her down so she doesn't outshine the male. Personally, I think she works better as a solo character -- though I don't mind her appearances in other books.
I didn't read issue 2 yet. I'm guessing that Amora's appearance was just a way to feature another Marvel female -- thus the title Black Widow and the Marvel Girls.
While the origin part of the story seems open to interpretation (did Amora go back in time after meeting Natasha as an adult? ). I doubt we'll ever see it mentioned again outside of this series. But the rest of the story was very much a good Black Widow story -- showing her to be cool under pressure, ver capable of handling herself -- and showing that she is the world's greatest spy.
Again, the art could have been less cartoony. Was this the guy who worked on Exiles -- cause I didn't like that artwork either.

I'm kind of surprised Natasha puts up with it. She has somewhat expensive taste.
So wait, is this post-Siege? If Tony isn't in a coma, Natasha's working for the CIA...it'd be interesting to know, given the amount of "Bucky dies in Siege!!" predictions.
I wish there were more Leon artwork in that preview!
Best thing about this mini by far!! That and now we have an ongoing to look forward to.
It's possible, but Natasha is freelance and might even have been on loan to the CIA. I wouldn't read too much into it, it's just impossible for her to have been working for the CIA when she's wanted by Osborn, Director of HAMMER. We saw what happened in Captain America when she used some of her UN contacts.
And Bucky is alive in this and possessing mysterious "teleport into Russian morgues" powers. I really doubt he'll die in Siege, but this might be tangible proof.
