I think it was smart that

    spoilers:
they had him be the Avenger to be brain-washed
    end of spoilers

it instantly gave credibility and purpose to his character -- one that hasn't been established in the movies until The Avengers. So no boring back-story, he just gets ramped right into the action and is instantly given a reason to be in the team.

Man the more I think about the Avengers movie the more I hate the idea of waiting to get Hawkeye's solo. I really hope Fraction and AJA delivers as well as they did on Iron Fist.

Kind-a wish Hawkeye wasn't brain-washed and evil throughout the first half of the movie but he was so freakin' awesome in the end!! 0w0;!
I love the scenes with him and Natasha. They're so sweet. =)

I think he is in Secret Avengers and is a teacher in Avengers academy.

Since i dont read NA or avengers, I cant vouch for them.

Zak is correct. He appears in Secret Avengers and Academy regularly. He is also in Captain America and Hawkeye regularly. However, he only makes appearances in New and regular Avengers ,just like anyone else can at any point.

He was still awesome when he was brainwashed , he took down the shield helicarrier. (or at least would have taken down the helicarrier if Iron man & Cap hasn't interfered)

I have to say Hawkeye's treatment was one of the only things that I truly disliked about the Avengers. It was based entirely on the Ultimate version, with barely a shred of 616 Clint. Plus the whole brainwashed-for-half-the-movie thing.

I'd rather have no Hawkeye than badly-done Hawkeye.

    a) It would leave the possibility of Hawkeye open for later movies rather than being stuck with the grim 'n' gritty SHIELD version
    b) We'd get to see (arguably more deserving) characters like Wasp and Hank Pym instead

Hopefully in Avengers 2, or SHIELD, or wherever Movie Hawkeye shows up next, he'll have a personality closer to his fun 616 incarnation.

    Preach it!

My only real problem with the film was that they put in Ultimate Hawkeye, and cut out Hank Pym and Wasp (though thank god they didn't do Ult Pym). Still an awesome movie, but that was put it from a 10 to a 9, for me anyway.

I would hardly say Hank Pym is "more deserving." Hawkeye is more popular. And the entire movie was essentially based on Millar's entire Ultimate run. And the fact of the matter is Hawkeye did get much of any character background (Ultimates or 616). Which is disappointing as a Hawkeye, but he still kicked ass. His character was the only team member to not having been seen on film before, so the quickest way to explain him was to partner him with Black Widow and have him brain washed for portion of it. Now that we've met the character hopefully they will expand on him in the second one. This isn't like Deadpool in the Wolverine movie.

Also how was the Jim McCain Hawkeye and Mockingbird series, his mini, and the recent Avengers Solo mini? And when does Fraction's Hawkeye series come out? I hope it comparable to his Iron Man run and not the rest of his work.
What is this, Horseville? Because I'm surrounded by naysayers.

Honestly I thought him being brainwashed was a good way of showcasing him and giving him more of a unique role in the movie (especially in contrast to Black Widow). I frankly think he (and Black Widow) would probably have less of a role if Clint wasn't brainwashed.

Cap, Iron Man, and Thor are going to steal the show... that's a given. The whole brainwashing thing, with a hint of history between Black Widow and Clint was frankly what anchored their characters to the movie.

I really hope McCann takes over Fraction after the new series has been around a while. (presuming it doesn't get cancelled)
Also, God I hope the old costume come back. Because man, I still can't stand this one.
Nightcrawler, Jean Grey, Gwen Stacy, Peter Parker, Professor X, Mar-Vell, Richard Rider- Bring Them Back!!!
