August 1st. Which is next week!!! I'm super excited. I'm gonna buy 5 copies.

Also... Clint had a small but stellar showing in Secret Avengers this week. Check it out!

The advance reviews have been glowing thus far. I'll be picking it up on Comixology in the morning.

Cross-posted, because it's fun - this is apparently what David Aja feels the theme tune of the book should be, so try giving the issue a read while listening!

Agreed. The guy who's faced down Elders of the Universe gets beat up by thugs and runs away from two guys with guns?

I love this issue. Fraction and Aja delivered big time. One of my favorite single comics of the year so far.
Sure, it wasn't a big super-Heroey Avengers bash em up...but it was a very cool character story with incredible art and color. Pure fun. I am totally on board. Sure hope it sells well.

I loved it from start to finish and I will continue buying this book monthly at least as long as Fraction and Aja are on it. It was interesting that the closest thing Clint has to a power - his archery skills - did not figure into the combat at all, and it didn't really matter because the book worked so well.

I am totally going to reread it one more time tonight.
Pumped to have a Hawkeye solo again and an enjoyable direction for the character IMO.
Renner had a cool take in the film. Now an Aja drawn solo series. Great summer for our favorite marksman.

No Bow and no powers, if he didn't run away he would be simply be dead.

And yet he's defeated far greater threats without bow or powers.

And yet you are upset that he used playing cards and coins to fight?
Clint's been a master with thrown weaponry since Gruenwald rehashed his origin.

Not trying to nitpick but, it's like you want this series to fail bud.
I've been a huge Hawkeye fan for nearly 20 years now and I was incredibly impressed. I really hope this series does well.

I want to see Hawkeye using his bow and fighting supervillains. That's what makes the character fun, IMO. Using playing cards and coins? That seems like Bullseye or Ultimate Hawkeye to me. You could argue that since he's a master of thrown weaponry, he could use a shield too, but it wouldn't feel like Hawkeye.

I'm not giving up on the series, but if it's going to be all about him out of costume fighting thugs, it's just not something that's going to appeal to me. I got into Hawkeye because I like the big heroics, and he was IMO the most fun Avenger (which was the series about big heroics back in the day). To me, having him run around as a street-level DD/Iron Fist-wannabe, I guess I just don't see the point.

I'm pretty sure we are going to see a ton of bows and arrows through out the series. It has been one issue.

This might be a lame question but do we think his dog is gonna stay around an be a sort of sidekick? As a dog lover I would love that. I loved that about Cho till they got rid of the dog.
What is this, Horseville? Because I'm surrounded by naysayers.

I picked up my copy of Hawkeye #1 today. Just read it while listening to this song. Can't wait for the next issue (which I may not read until October since I forgot to order Hawkeye #2...)

I deffo agree, bud. Not even disagreeing about Clint being my favorite superhero. We both know he's taken on the likes of Iron Man, Abomination, HUlk&She-Hulk, Wrecking Crew, etc... BUT, that's what Hickman's Avengers book should be about. Super Heroics on a grand scale. I want a push for Clint to be more showcased in the Avengers book. That way his solo book can be more about what Clint's doind away from the team.
