Okay, weird tangent, but y'know what I hate? Feeling guilty about being unemployed. Like, it took me two days to say "Oh hey, I got something cool that makes me happy" because I'm all like "They know I don't have a job, omg, now they're gonna know I spent money on something frivolous when I don't have an income." Part of it is, omg, guilt complex thanks mom, but there's also this whole ugly culture about, like, unemployment and you're not contributing and BOOTSTRAPS and blah blah blah. Just tired of it America, if you really want me to succeed stop rewarding the people who stashed all of their money into tax shelters instead of reinvesting it in American jobs and social programs.

Anyway, the director of the program I want to work for emailed me personally because he heard really good things about my work and wanted me to send him my resume directly. So that's potentially really fantastic news!
Congrats. I hope it all works out. How's your GF?

They're doing okay. We've been doing spring cleaning, which makes Liz happy cuz Drea is a huge packrat and Liz likes her spaces as clutter free as possible.

Also, cuz I'm a total nerd, I added a link to my movie collection in my signature. I love movies; I've been collecting dvds for ten years now (only my general lack of funds and the need to do spring cleaning every so often has kept that from getting completely out of control), plus I minored in film studies in college, and it's really, really amazing for me (coming out of the days of VHS as a kid) to be able to have that movie theater kind of experience at home.
Nice collection of DVD's. You've got good, broad tastes. One thing though; the link appears a bit off. It should be http://ceridwen.dvdaf.com, but it reads as http://"http//ceridwen.dvdaf.com

Fixed! I'm so used to typing out the "http://" when I make links, I didn't realize the forum software automatically inserted them.

Also, thank you! Like I said, I absolutely love movies. My favorite film is James Whale's Bride of Frankenstein; I can't wait until it's available in hi-def! :D

I noticed that on your list. BOF is such a great film. Full of atmosphere and dark humour. And Karloff!

More just finding the house, and getting rid of all the stuff (like the four boxes that went to the youth center the other day).

As for the comic, I intend to have it finished this weekend, if not sooner.

And Elsa Lanchester, OMG, so much love for that woman.

When I was in college, I wrote an essay that was part memoir, part film critique. It positioned the Monster's Mate as a pop-feminist icon, with Elsa Lanchaster playing both the Bride and the story's author, Mary Shelley. The memoir part explores my relating to the characters she plays, being both creator and creation, woman and monster. It was only a first draft, and I mean to revisit it some day.

That sounds fascinating. If you ever do feel like letting folks see it, I'd be interested in reading it.

And Elsa was amazing in this film, in both her roles.

Well, we're far from done, but we did sell some of it. Old dvds and cds, old video games. A lot of stuff went/is going to the Salvation Army and the Goodwill.

Some of the things I've written and lost -- a spec script for Brave & Bold was almost totally lost on my last move -- I considered to be really good.

Sometimes nothing can be done -- or maybe that's just my inner Luddite talking. I think you're right - just get away form the demonic machine until you feel like doing battle with it again.

So which episode is it - I hope it's "Band Geeks". If not, I can also recommend Phineas & Ferb....

Edit: I've more or less settled in -- still looking for work -- and stopping by to check out my mirror on a regular basis (thank you, Gail).
Wow, a lot happened since I posted this -- health care passed (yay!) Perry Moore showed what a wonderful person he is (bigger YAY!) Ceri continues to rock on creatively....

No wonder it got lost with all the other stuff. :)

Still looking for work, still hanging by my thumbs (any old radio fans out there get that reference?), still following Gail's advice and my kids are looking better every day!

And I even found an LCS in LaSalle, IL -- even if the owner is a Tea Partier....
The avatar STAYS -- even if DC doesn't want her, I DO.

RIP, Dwayne McDuffie; the world is a lot less fun without your intelligence and heart in it.
