I knew that, um hum. (oooEEEooo...)

The last movie I saw (thanks, Netflix) was "27 Dresses." If it had been a drama, I would label the heroine as Too Stupid to Live. There were huge lapses in logic throughout and an emphasis on visual impact though what was filmed made no sense. I gave it three stars, ho hum.

The closest I'm going to get to Zombieland is reading Dan Savage's "Savage Love" column today, which discusses the ethics of zombie love.

    And oh yeah:

I just got the 80's classic movie Labyrinth on bluray and watched it... total escapist fantasy fun! David Bowie was so creepy, elegant and strange as the Goblin King.. I had forgotten that a very young Jennifer Connely was the heroine. I LOVED Sir Didymus and his mount, Ambrosius the sheep dog. They are some of the cutest puppet friends that Jim Henson ever created! The man was a true genious and godsend. The fire creatures were always my favorites as a kid watching it, though.

I plan on getting The Dark Crystal next, for some more creepy-Halloween style puppet cuteness!

Besides Zombieland, last great horror movie I saw in theaters was Drag Me To Hell. That should be on DVD soon, I think. As a fan of Evil Dead I really had no choice but to go, but I was really happy to find that it was a lot funnier then the trailers had depicted. :D

Well, that's not quite right. Last great horror/comedy movie I saw was Strigoi, but it's currently running around on the festival circuit so isn't too easy to get hold of. If anyone's in Austen or New Orleans, it'll be coming around there soon. It's a Romanian/UK movie with a more traditional take on vampires, set in a little Romanian village. The mystery element of the movie gets a bit confusing, but it's hilarious. Trailers! and Site.

Anyone looking forward to Rec2? Human Centipede?

I also saw Zombieland, that was pretty funny, with quite possibly the best celebrity cameo EVER.

The last movie I saw in theaters before that was Inglorious Basterds, which, while different then what I thought it was going to be, was still really good--and you can never go wrong with Nazi killin'.

Speaking of movies, I've become addicted to this site: http://www.flickchart.com. On one hand I felt like an addict when the server went down earlier today, but it's still a very solid site that does a really good job at compiling a list. Here's my top 20 so far:

    2. Sin City
    3. Serenity
    4. Lucky Number Sleven

Didn't know they were doing REC2... Interesting. The original seriously rocked, tho' I'm always wary when it comes to sequels.

I just watched the best movie I've seen in ages last weekend. It is based on a true story and stars Drew Barrymore and Jessica Lange, detailing the mis-fortunes of the Beals, cousins to Jackie O. lt is called "Grey Gardens." As an aspiring artist with big dreams and obstacles galore, it just made we weep almost uncontrollably (embarrassing!) at its conclusion.

That's the kind of movie I like, though--where I'm drawn in unaware and lost in the story, oblivious to the stars, and fully emersed in the outcome. Not many films can do that anymore.....

I heard that was a good movie, I didn't see it yet, but I want to. Did you see The Wrestler. I felt that was a movie that did what you described here.

I was nervous too, when I first heard about it. It was playing at the Toronto Film Festival just awhile ago, but at 20 bucks a ticket I had to pass.

I ran into some friends who did see the screening, though. One had seen the original as well, and said that 2 was just as good. So I'm cautiously excited. Everyone's been talking about how Paranormal Activity is super-scary, but when watching Rec at home, I was petrified, and I don't scare easy at movies.

...I do get grossed out pretty easy, tho. :P

I know what you mean about REC. I saw it at home, and I can't remember the last time a horror movie got my pulse racing so fast. Here's hoping for 2...

PA has been getting some great reviews, but I'll probably have to wait for the DVD. Here in UK, only Big Studio horror ever makes it into the movie theatres (at least in my neck of the woods), so this one will probably have to wait. Besides which, it's a hand-held camera movie, and they make me queasy, just looking at them on big screens

    Justin

I loved The Wrestler. Mickey Rourke's performance was so brave, vulnerable and real. I couldn't take my eyes off him.

Yeah that was a preformance of a life time. It's crazy that at one point the producers wanted to have Nick Cage replace Mickey.
