    Default Rebels annual

Wow, this was great, Starro, Storm daughter and Smyte are now some of my favorite charecters, Tony is doing an amazing job of bringing the DC cosmic universe to life,

The art was ok, but the story was amazing...................

PS when do we get to learm more about Tribulous, why he seems so simalar to Validus, how strong he really is, I call it right now, a big battle between Smyte and Tribulous,

Tony, when we will learn his origin >

xPS Bounder, so far an absolute waste of a charecter, when will he break through, when do we learn why he is in this book ??

Just got my Starro. I've been collecting some old Starro issues, even Captain Carrot's and I realized that one thing I liked about the original Starro is that it was just about the only non-humanoid villain that was a true villain (not a pet or monster etc.). I went into the annual feeling kind of disappointed that Tony was changing all that, but still hopeful.

And I liked the story a lot. Yes, I have some reservations about the new Starro controlling the animal-like Starros. But from a biologist's point of view it makes some sense the way it is presented and was a good story. So in a lot of ways I liked it when I thought I would not. My only hope (and request if Tony is out there) is that we see more non-humanoid characters (like the Gil'dishpan - they are great!) in the REBELS universe.

I don't like this new Starro. I don't like that there's not really an explanation for how he's able to take control of the Starro. I don't like that the Starro encounters on Earth were controlled by this "real" Starro and the implication that they were three separate Starros.

I do like that there were Starros once upon a time that weren't influenced by this Starro. That the giant starfish were the only true Starros originally. But it doesn't really help much, as all the important appearances cannot follow that course. Considering the "motherstars" as they're referred to here seem like mindless drones, it doesn't really mesh with past Starro appearances anyway.

It was better than I thought it would be, but I'm still terribly disappointed in the concept as a whole.
