Default So, I have an injured squirrel in my backyard.

My brother hit it when it came straight at him.

They're (he and his cousin) fucking around with it (trying to get it to run off, spraying it with a hose, stupid bullshit), and I don't want it dying and screeching/making a stink. I want to call Animal Control, but my brother and mother go spastic on me, screaming about "LOL WUT IF COPS ARREST US".

Dumb idiots. Then stop fucking with the squirrel.

Anyway. What should I do? I got out a shitty airsoft gun when it sounded like it attacked my brother, but it turns out they're being morons again.

EDIT: They placed it near a fence, which it apparently climbed... and fell over. I bet the neighbors heard us yelling at each other.

If it's hurt bad then, I hate to say it, you should just put it out of its misery.

Then smack your brother and mom.
Free your soul and let it fly....

Either go out and end the poor animals suffering or call Animal Control so they can.

Why the Hell are you asking us for advice about something you already know the answer to?

Why would someone think cops might arrest them for hitting a squirrel?

This isn't really about a squirrel is it?

Damn neighbor kids always in your yard.

Put that gun to use and shoot your brother and mom in the knees. It'll sting but it's best to teach idiots what not to do/say before they hurt themselves. Then you go right ahead and call the pros so the thing can be looked after.

Except if I do, I'm going to have morons screaming at me 24/7.

At this point, it sounds like it was already injured in the first place and kept trying to attack my brother.

It can walk, though even from here, it was being aggressive even when they were watching it.

Of course it's aggressive, it was just hit by somebody. Even before then, you might find it was being defensive.

It seems that the squirrel isn't the problem here...

You sure it's not defending its home or its young? Have a look around, maybe there's a nest or whatever. Maybe even some buried food. It may have been chased into your garden by a dog or something which would have made it more aggressive

If it broke the skin of anyone get them to a doctor ASAP, then Call Animal Control.
Healthy Squirrels don't get aggressive when not cornered Rabid ones and ones infected with things like distemper do.

It didn't bite them, that's for sure, though, as above, it kept trying to charge them even after being whacked.

Squirrels around here do not hang around in people's yards. I think it was agressive due to being injured.

maybe take it to the vet.

when i found an injured robin in our yard last year thats what we did. But they said it was too badly hurt so they had to put him to sleep.

and oh yeah. smack those ones who kept futzing with it. Where I'm from, we'd call that animal cruelty.

Hopefully not; but Mike's right about calling Animal Control. You really do need to make sure. After all, strictly speaking it just hasn't bitten anyone yet.

    õ
And rabies is nothing to fool around with!
