One of the most intense and psychological Spidey writers of all time. Just read the Child Within to see this greatness firsthand.
Check out the O.A.W. Report at www.majinoaw.blogspot.com. You want to see why I say the things I do or understand what's in my head... this is the place to go.
R.I.P. Don't pee in the (Dead)pool, November 2007 - January 2013
I really, really, REALLY hope Marvel does what he says and puts the Lost Years into a HC or TPB.
Those stories were simply incredible.
"There's no American before Avengers in our name, Simon!" - Beast
A great interview to a multi talented professional writter.
And J.M.DeMatteis could not be more right about the stories curently in ASM.
Which i am going to quote and is as follows from the interview #
"What's been new and/or interesting for you in returning to Spider-Man for this go round? What do you think of his new status quo?
I've been pretty much out of the loop, so Steve W sent me a stack of recent Spidey material and I was very impressed with the work: I think it's fresh and smart and fun. (I liked it all, but I was especially impressed with Dan Slott's work. I think he's terrific.)
A number of people have asked me what I thought of the whole Mephisto reboot, and my feeling is that the Mephisto story, whether it was brilliant or a total stinker, isn't what matters. What matters is what happens after the reboot. And I think the Spider-guys have done a great job with the books since then."
Enough said.![]()
Pull List:Uncanny Avengers,Avengers,Superior Spider-Man,Daredevil,All New X-Men,Hawkeye,Captain America,Thor:God of Thunder,Swamp Thing,Morbius,Thunderbolts,Iron Man,Fatale.
Now that the Clone Saga reboot has officially started, I have this and Who Was Ben Reilly (once called Who IS Ben Reilly?, was I the only one who noticed that?) to really really look forward to this month. I love October. My 30th birthday, my state's big FallCon and now frickin Clone Month? Are you kidding me?! This is just great!
That said, I am really glad to see DeMatteis back where he belongs. Now we just need to see him reunited with Mike Zeck and Bob McCleod. I'd also love to see him work with Sal Buscema again, especially since Sal will also see his work in Web of Spidey as the inker of Spider-Girl.
Did I miss a part of the interview? There is a caption below that Web #3 cover that says Kaine is going to be in that issue as well. I'll have to reread that solit, but I don't recall anything about that. I'd love to see Kaine come back into the spotlight.
Whew, enough geeking out. I'm damn excited about this and I might as well speak my peace, for those of you passing on Spidey because of OMD, well, you may be warranted, but you are sincerely missing out on the most fun Spidey has been since, well, almost ever. Seriously!
DeMatteis is my favorite writer!!
And seeing him writing Kaine is the best thing that can happen. I loved the interview. And I loved how honest he "sounded". It was the first time to see someone telling that they had such a great time creating the clone saga.

I am an anarchist. Deal with it.

Reading between the lines, it seem to me that DeMatteis isn't really that thrilled about "the deal."
I have a TPB of the Lost Years. I also have the singles for some reason. I think I found the singles at a sale a few years ago but somehow missed the story the first go round.
Edit: Yea here it is on Amazon for real cheap: http://www.amazon.com/Spider-Man-Yea...4456399&sr=8-1

Yeah, I was wondering about that, myself.
Thing is, though, J.M. DeMatties did say in an interview with the Spider-Man Crawlspace podcast that he believed Peter and MJ's marriage and love for one another was far more real, genuine, and heartfelt than the marriage between Clark Kent and Lois Lane, and he's written stories for both Spider-Man AND Superman. Although, I'd say he more or less appreciates the drama being created in the comics now with Peter and MJ being apart.

I would like to see how DeMatteis take on Spider-girl, since Kaine is involved in that series.![]()
