Nothing new here, but still a fun read. Gauntlet's sounding really good.
Can`t wait to read ASM#606.
Having Diablo, which is one of the best Fantastic Four villains in that story is good stuff. This villain have great potential to be a Spider-Man villain.
Black Cat is being written at her best from what i read in the interview.
Pull List:Uncanny Avengers,Avengers,Superior Spider-Man,Daredevil,Captain America,Thor:God of Thunder,Swamp Thing.

Joe Kelly is one of those guys that when he does an interview makes me excited to read the comic.
I know Kevin Nichols through a guy that knows a gal. Small world!
If nihilism didn't take some delight in destruction one might suspect nihilists were an unnaturally morbid sort.

I'm a big Black Cat fan. Love the character design (courtesy of the late, great Dave Cockrum), but I was always disappointed that the bad luck powers were explained away as gimmicks. Or when brought back as a power -- that they were only defensive.
I agree with Joe that they made the character unique. While I haven't been reading Amazing Spider-Man lately, I'm going to check out this run. Sounds promising.
Joe Kelly has been really bringing it with his issues of ASM. I remember him from the "original" Deadpool comic (with Ed McGuiness on art) from mid-1990's and have really enjoyed all his work (including "Bad Dog"----Image) but he really is perfect for ASM. If we needed just one writer, I think it would be a tough call between Kelly, Fred Van Lente and Mark Waid.

This article also got me interesting in Kelly's other work, 'I Kill Giants'. Going to pick it up.

I read my buddy's copy of this while he was smoking outside the bar. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. Diablo is a bonus, too. Go Joe Kelly. The end of the Gauntlet is gonna be fun if he's writing it.
Joe Kelly is got to be easily my favorite of the Spidey brain-trust. He hasn't written a bad story yet in my opinion. I can't wait to see him on some other books in the Marvel Universe.
(But he should stay on Amazing for a looonng time!)
Um, you guys do realize Kelly has just opened to door to all the criticism that Peter Parker has emotionally regressed as a character, right?Readers can expect more scenes of romantic tension and misadventures in the months ahead, because for the remainder of 2009, Kelly and his "Amazing Spider-Man" co-writers will explore the mess that is Peter Parker's love life. "I love writing that stuff. Women problems are great fodder for comedy, but I also find my own awkwardness around women my entire life helps me slip into that role and relate to the character," Kelly explained. "I always think of him as in high school even though he's not. So whatever girl trouble he's got, it's always the high school version of it in my brain. It may not manifest that way, but that's his reaction. It's always like he's this disaffected man-boy, and that's why Norah calls him her 'Man-Child.' It's because he's not fully equipped to deal with all these romantic slings and arrows, particularly after being in such a long relationship with MJ."

I sincerely doubt that.
The criticism already exists. Joe Kelly did provide some ammunition for the people who feel that way, but I doubt anyone's going to be convinced of the position because of what he said, as opposed to what they read in the comics, or as if often the case, various interviews with Quesada and company.

Pretty much the point I was making. And it also makes me wonder if there's folks at Marvel who actually wish Peter Parker was still back in high school like in Ultimate Spider-Man and in the Spectacular Spider-Man cartoon if not for that "dreaded" thing we call "continuity." But hey, it's just my opinion, after all.
