    Default Heels Or No Heels?

You know, I don't actually have anything against high heels on some superheroines. There are some who carry it off, and it looks nice on them. And you can make a case that a woman with super-strength and flight, as Wonder Woman is, could wear high heels without being slowed down or affected.

I think it's silly for martial artists, which is why I HATE Black Canary with heels.

But with Wonder Woman, I just really think she looks better in the comics with flats. I don't mind the heels on toys and dolls and stuff so much. But in the comics and animated stuff, I think it looks a lot more believable and fierce with flats.

But man alive, it's surprising how important this topic is to some folks!

A chunky heel, like the kind on a pair of cowboy boots is okay, as long as it's no more than about 2 inches. Any skinnier or higher, and I don't like it.

WW should be setting a healthy example whenever possible. Thus we should see her in flats.

Now, if she's in the bedroom with her honey of the moment, she's absolutely allowed to wear 9" spikes for the six steps it takes her to get to the bed. (Hope she's not stepping on a nice hardwood floor, though.)

Otoh we've seen Donna in heels many times. She's got issues about her femininity (like her fear of shaving her head). Wearing heels for the men in her life to appreciate on a routine basis is not forbidden to her. Donna is not a (cue brassy orchestra) Iconic Symbol of anything (except confusion).

I vaguely recall some discussion of these issues where someone said the issue (when it comes to whether high heels can be "practical" for a fighting woman) that it's more about the design of the footwear than the height of the heel per se. For instance, the heels worn by dancers on Broadway might be reasonably practical compared to ordinary footwear.

Oddly, I find that I have no particularly strong feelings about any aspect of Wonder Woman's costume. It's all good by me, pretty much (at least until you get as far away from the original as, say, the Cathy Lee Crosby outfit, and even then I like some of the more oddball variants.)

(I say "oddly" because I do have relatively strong opinions on the specific details of how, e.g., Batman and Superman should look.)

The high heel go-go boots look great and stylish while making her look feminine. Every other female superhero in comics and in movies has been able to get away with them, why not her? Anyone who can fight crime in high heels is truly a "wonder woman", let alone the one and only Wonder Woman. Also she can fly, she doesn't need to worry about tripping and in battle, it adds more "bang" to her kicks. I’m just saying

Eh? Just out of curiosity, where and how did the issue of her shaving her head come up in the first place?

Gotta disagree with the animated stuff - I thought Diana looked awesome in Justice League - besides, it was worth it just to have Batman comment on it in "The Once and Future Thing"

[after swapping their costumes for cowboy clothes]
Wonder Woman: These shoes are killing me.
Batman: You fight crime wearing high heels.
Wonder Woman: High heels that fit!

I see no problem with Wonder Woman having heels. I think they look good. She has the power of flight - balance and falling down is not an issue. She has super strength - so pain from elevation isn't an issue.

For the sake of practicality, I'm going to go with no heels. Heels, like skirts, just do not work in a battle situation. Not to mention that Diana is already plenty tall without them.

    No heels.

They were hot on Lynda Carter, and they look good, but they aren't practical for running and jumping, which Diana does a lot of.

She's tough, but think of the stress that it puts on the joints.

No heels. They look bad on action heroes.

Honestly it isn't something I ever even thought about or notice half the time if she has them or not.
