Default Amazing Spider-Man #605 spoilers and discussion

All right, since ASM #605 comes out today, there’s at least three things I learned about this issue beforehand (NOT complete spoilers):

    spoilers:
    1. In a flashback Mary Jane has, we are shown her having a very heated argument with Peter looking pretty beat-up in a shabby and threadbare Spider-Man costume. Apparently, he had been missing for the past four days without so much as a word with MJ assuming the worst had happened to him. When Peter tries to explain, MJ is so furious that in the heat of the moment she mocks his feelings of guilt over his Uncle Ben’s death.

    2. Remember that actor, Bobby Carr, MJ had a relationship with in Dan Slott’s “Peter Parker: Papparazzi story” (the one with Paper Doll)? Well, she breaks up with him.

    3. In a follow-up to last week’s issue, Peter spends the story trying to avoid and ignore Michelle. When they do finally talk, Peter learns that, in Michelle’s exact words, they were “swapping spit on the kitchen floor.” Peter comes clean and tells her it wasn’t him, that he had been kidnapped and impersonated by the Chameleon. Michelle’s reaction? She accuses him of making the whole thing up and then decks him.
    end of spoilers

Wow # 1 could play into why they broke up a lot (serious stuff right there) Of course my point of reference will always be Mephisto but interesting all the same.

Really wasn't a bad issue. A nice change of pace and it finally did give us the answers we wanted from Red Headed stranger. The arc left a lot of vague answers I felt like. This arc also set up a lot of things to come.

I like getting Peter Parker centered issues too. This issue kinda had a lot going on. The transition was a bit odd between the two stories but I still really enjoyed it.

I honestly think this has been the best issue in awhile. I know a lot of people enjoyed the last arc but I really didn't. I'm looking forward to the next arc.

I think the development with Harry could be interesting. It wasn't surprising at all though. I also liked the time he spent with Peter. They are doing a good job with his character; one of the few characters I think they are doing a good job with to be honest.

I also liked the developments of the Raptor story line. I always like to see sub plots starting to unfold.

Here's hoping ASM continues to be good going into the Black Cat arc.

Bobby Carr was using MGH and MJ gets mad at the whole "secret identity" thing. Not sure why as ive only skimmed. And hes Blonde now.... Story ends with her catching the bouquet.

To Bizard: NO MENTION OF MEPHISTO OR HER REMEMBERING ANYTHING OTHER THAN PETER IS SPIDER-MAN.

To add to Shaggy, Bobby Carr gets in trouble for using MGH to buff up for the lead role in a Captain America film. The DEA tries to get him to roll over on his supplier, whom we find out to be is the rascally White Rabbit. Oh, and White Rabbit REEEAAALLLLYYYY doesn't like to be late. Seriously, be on time around her. Or else.
I know Kevin Nichols through a guy that knows a gal. Small world!

I have to say I'm impress by VanLente's work on this issue, I mean it shows just how good that guy is when he has Spider-man.

I can't wait to get this arc on TPB.

If you think about it, Bobby Carr using MGH actually goes into TWO hang-ups Mary Jane would have. The first, obviously, would be that it would remind her of how Peter tried to hide the fact he was Spider-Man for years, even though MJ knew about his secret identity all along. And second, this would be the second time she was in a relationship with a drug addict, the first, of course, being Harry.

So the Chameleon didn't rape Michelle. Thank God for that.

Well, that and Carr put the honest, brutal truth before her about Hollywood. It really is a place where you sometimes have to do outrageous shit to be famous, or continue to be.

Also, this made me laugh uproariously. During the 'Models Stink' story, when the blond cousin mentions that Peter used to date MJ, and Harry pipes in from off-panel with "Me too!" Damn, that was funny.

That makes me wonder; I know at one point Peter was dating MJ and Harry was dating Gwen, but this is where I don't know where the transition happened, Pete and Harry essentially traded girlfriends? Exactly how did that happen?

we knew that last week when stillanerd posted the writers comments on another board where he spoiled some of 605 to crush the rape theory.

FVL answered a private message about the scene, and that recipient then turned around and posted it on...Daily Scans, I think? FVL then had to come out in an interview and say "There was no sex!" before #605 hit the stands.
