    Default Namor the Sub-Mariner Appreciation

He definitely deserves his own proper thread for an all-purpose discussion.

This site here goes into fantastic detail of his history and is a great read:

Namor seriously needs to take over the Marvel U. earth. I imagine there should be many more, if not just as many, superhero'ed beings in the water as there are on the surface.

And I wouldn't mind if he was dating Sue Storm.

OK, you can pelt me with your paltry proof that Namor has been a damn dirty mutie for a while, but how often has it driven a story? The SubMAREENER interacts mostly--and bestly--with FF4/Herc/Avengers main MUversske. He's been shown as more Atlantean prince of his vast schools of gill people rather than somebody hanging out at the compound in Westchester, trading bon mots with the bald gimp.

His character is 70 years old. Why can't and shouldn't he interact with all sides of the Marvel U? Why limit him to a few books/associates? Why SHOULDN'T he have stories with mutants? He IS one. It's not like he can't appear in FF or in the Avengers as well as the X books.

I'm a big fan of hobo Phil Collins Namor:

Someone give the man some change.

    LOL Yeah not his finest.

I did love Bendis' handle of the character in the Illuminati books.

And Robert Aguirre-Sacasa's take on him in the finale issue of "4" was great. One of my all-time favourite Reed/Namor interactions ever.

I've only read about three issues featuring Bendis' Namor (SI: DR, NA: Illuminati #4, and DA #6). I really like how Bendis portrayed in the latter two, but in the former (the comic that I posted that panel from), he wasn't his regal, arrogant self. It was like he sent his cousin Barry in as a proxy or something.

See, I got a kick out of Maleev's take on Subs--maybe that's how he's seen, some fishy smelling guy who looks like just washed up on the East River. I think Maleev shifted perspective on the character in way that was risky and pretty cool.

Bendis did him best in the Illuminati mini that pre-dated SI.

I'm not so crazy about Namor joining up with the X-people. When he was invited to Latveria and from their interaction in the Cabal one-shot, I was hoping for a SVTU-type reunion with Doom.

Well, just to offset that skid row version of Namor, here is the Jim Lee one from Heroes Reborn days.

I think there should be a thread for Namors best put downs.

I am a fan of the "You fat little pervert" to Sebastian Shaw.

So, Namor is classified as an Avenger?

I want Namor to show up and demand to be let back into the Avengers.

When the current leader of the team asks for proof why he should be in, Namor reaches off-panel and hauls up Ares' KOed carcass.

Holy s&^t there's a Namor thread? And it wasn't bumped when Bendis said he's doing an Atlantis series next year??

That Jim Lee Namor is fantastic.

For all those that have been following the character longer than me, did anything happen between Revolution and Dark Reign? I just picked up Revolution a few weeks age. Those covers were fantastic!!
Your X-obsession is fascinating and almost commendable-bebopeva88.
