Weird Wonder Woman

Though Wonder Woman has had a LOT of weirdness throughout her career, I thought a fun thread might be to shine a light on some of the strangest of the strange... places OUTSIDE the main WW and Sensation Comics where our heroine appeared. This can be other comics or licensing, animation or live-action. Share your own Weird Wonder Woman!

From 1956 to 1971, DC published a series called SUGAR and SPIKE, about a pair of tykes who could communicate with each other. In almost every issue, they presented 1-2 pages of "Pint-Size Pin-Ups," which were paper dolls of the characters with outfits designed by readers. Though the main Sugar and Spike characters were drawn by Sheldon Mayer (original editor of Sensation and WW at All-American Comics), it's unclear if the outfits were drawn by him or not.

The only super-heroine outfits ever designed for Sugar were variations on Wonder Woman (paging Carol Strickland!), although Spike got to be Batman (twice), Robin, Superman, and Hawkman.

In the late 1970s, DC published the "DAILY PLANET" news page in the backs of their comics. Every week, the page changed, bringing up-to-date headlines on DC comics, the popular "Ask The Answer Man" section, crossword puzzles, and eventually, Hembeck cartoons. Fred Hembeck was a popular fan cartoonist, and the Daily Planet toons were some of his earliest forays into professional comic book work.

From 1977 to 1981 or so, DC and Marvel (and some other companies including Harvey, Archie, God Key and Whitman) ran comic book ads for Hostess Fruit Pies and other Hostess products. These one-page stories showed that ANY problem could be solved by tossing delicious Hostess products at a villain.
