I don't know if it's because the interviewer asked about it a lot but he harps on "Lost" a LOT. Comes off a bit defensive to me.
Slaughterhouse 5 is one of all time favourite books. I love vonnegut myself. In fact, I wrote a 6 thousand word short story recently and I was inspired by S5 and done my own TIME BUBBLE kind of story where the narrator is being brought to different years of his life and viewing them from a time bubble.
"You can't trust them as poets either. The true poet is anonymous, as to his habits, but these boys have to look, act, and apparently smell like poets"
Flannery O'Connor on the beats.
Shouldn't that be September 16th and not September 19th?
I don't think Brubaker is being defensive at all - I think he's right that some comic fans are not as well-rounded as they should be, and need to read everything they get their hands on, not just comic books.
Notice I said some and not all....I would say the large majority of fans are very well read and love reading, therefore love many of the "classics."
Am I the only one who doesn't care about Lost?
And I'm not sure I'd call anything by Vonnegut a "classic", just because, in my mind, it takes more time to get there. It's hardly the backbone of English literary canon, if there should even be an English literary canon. That's kind of a whole different debate, but, uh, I notice when Bucky randomly quotes Sartre.
How many times are they going to do a Reborn interview and talk about Lost and SH5? I think Marvel is hearing a backlash of people comparing it to Lost and it keeps putting out info about how this ISNT from Lost.
fifty bucks says bucky dies again
septermber 16 is the realease date, hmm anyone else think this is is because hitch is running late as usual![]()
comic fans aren't happy unless there's something to bitch about
I buy comics for the characters not for the writer/artist
currently reading issue 340 of amazing spiderman cd-rom.
PRO-BND
I for one, enjoy it when Sam Wilson quotes Ralph Ellison's INVISIBLE MAN.
No, just kidding.
This is not even a real issue, though. I doubt Brubaker is really worried about any LOST comparisons. They can't exactly *hurt* sales.
