Default CBR: David Liss' Daring Marvel Mysteries

wow, i might have to grab this, the art looks spectacular (seems on the Darwyn Cooke tip) and i liked the writers enthusiasm

Reading this, though, it occurred to me, Marvel might have missed the boat a little bit on these 70th anniversary specials ~ they could have been a self contained "mini-event" and introduced a new villain rooted in the era that then could have been brought into the modern MU, either as a legacy villain or through some magic/time travel/whatever means... Something to make them more than just random one-shots (not that there's anything wrong with that), to give them some "heft" with the modern 616...

...or had some perfunctory tie to 'The Marvel's Project' which is mining similar territory at a similar time...

I'm completely on the opposite side of that. The less they connect with current 616, the better I enjoy them.

I KNOW I"ve seen the reprint story in this issue, and in the past year or so.Just can't remember. Guess I gotta crack the 12 series. Know its not in the 1/2 issue.I sure wish that the last 4 issues of the 12 would see print. Loved that series, even if they junked the entire origin of rockman, to just turn him into a nutcase.
