Women in Refrigerators = Amazons?

Last topic I'll start, I swear....

Okay, given that the Amazons were created using the souls of women who'd been murdered by men, wouldn't it make sense that a new batch of Amazons created would include many of the murdered heroines and female characters from the DCU? No need for wild, convoluted resurrections, just the use of an already established precedent. And better still, they could possibly come back with their powers and abilities. Sue Dibny and her unborn child back as Amazons a little pissed that Jean Loring also came back with them? Phantom Lady 2 back with sword and need to find a one-eyed mercenary. Alan Scott's daughter Jade? Kyle's other girlfriend, who named the concept, Alex eager to find out if it's true whether or not Major Force can be killed. Anima, who was recently sacrificed to show how "tough" Prometheus is. Joanna Pierce, Black Lightning's niece sacrificed to make Green Arrow feel bad. Lilith, the forgotten casualty alongside Donna...

Sadly, the list is endless (though a few will hopefully already come back via Blackest Night).

I think that idea has merit, especially since DC could tap into heroines like Phantom Lady and Jade, among other women. But, would these women remember who they were? A story a while back (and inserted piece within another issue) had some Amazons who were reborn, but they didn't remember who they were or maybe the memories of their past faded? I don't recall the exact issue number.

Anyway, I remember commenting on Gail's WiR site waaaay back (my email was here; I'm the David Berger who posted). I think these women deserve some attention, especially if the Amazons wish to replenish themselves. Why couldn't the goddesses, yet again, call forth the souls of these women cut short from their lives, birthing them in the ocean off the coast of Themyscira (instead of an inland lake where the original Amazons were reborn).

Certainly an interesting concept to consider.

I *love* that idea. Always liked the idea of the amazons having been wronged women-- tragic past given a second chance for happiness as amazons. Its a powerful idea that hasn't been used since or expanded on, and I think interesting plots can be pulled from that.

You could always just say that their minds do what is best for their souls to heal, so every now and then, an Amazon could "awaken" their past-- like if the villain who killed them was attacking Themyscria, it would be better for them to face him down remembering everything that had gone before.

Well, the clear difference is those women never had to encounter anyone who'd cause those memories to come forward, so they could fade. In this case, anyone who'd met Wonder Woman would be "triggered" and if they came into contact with the rest of the DCU superhero population, much less its villains, forget it.
