Thread: Wonder Boy?

  1. #1

    Default Wonder Boy?

Well I've often wondered this myself. Could the Wonder Woman mythos handle having a Wonder Boy introduced? I've often wondered why not.

Superman has Superboy and Supergirl (among others)

Batman has had the Robins as well as Batgirls (and so on)

And Wonder Woman has the Wondergirls as well as the Amazons and the Greek Pantheon to an extent. But even with her pantheon Wonderwoman for the most part interacts with the female side Athena etc... unless fighting one of the angry male gods, Ares, Zeus etc...

What does everyone else feel? Should there be a Wonder Boy?

It'd be one of the few times (if any) that a female character inspired a male one and that's one of the reasons I'd like it, especially since way back when they kind of hinted at having something like that with Bobby Barnes, Trevor Barne's nephew who was a huge Wonder Woman fan. He even had a Wonder Boy shirt ala the Young Justice era Wondergirl with a WG on it.

HAHAHA, I thought I was the only one in the world who felt there should be a wonder boy. To be honest, I stop reading Wonder Woman because I personally felt it was a woman's only club. With Superman having Supergirl, PG, and Superboy, and Batman having huntress, batgirl, oracle, batwoman, robin, etc etc. and WW only have Donna and Wonder Girl, it definitely felt like a woman's only club. But if a wonder boy was created, I would jump back into the series in the heart beat.

Haha, I remember going on for pages upon pages at the dc boards on how WB would be a great thing. Not too many people liked it there though, I'm not so certain around here.

I like the idea of having a Wonder Boy, but I think Wonder Woman's supporting cast is already pretty bloated, and many of the existing characters don't get much page time as it is.

Maybe one day, but I'm of the opinion that her current supporting cast needs a lot of tender loving care. Now's not the time to be adding something as major as a "Wonder Boy".

I think it's time for a wonder-dog, or a wonder-pegasus. Now just how effin' cool would Wondy look swoopin' in on a massive battle scene atop a great whacking big white horse with a ginormous wingspan and the most kick-ass battle armour Hephasteus could come up with?

The problem with tying Wonder Boy to Wonder Woman is that Wonder Boy predates Wonder Woman ..
But then again he has been in limbo since the 50's

I have long wanted a Wonder Boy... and here's a hint of how he could come about... When the amazons went to Paradise Island, Poiseiden (sp?), Apollo, and Hermes sent their brother tribe, the Kentaurs (the ones who caused the legend of Centaurs because they were such good riders that they were one with their horses), into "the fields of Olympus". A threat emerges, and the Kentaurs, who have been able to monitor the outside world, send a young warrior (with sun/light powers) to warn and aid Wonder Woman. He is garbed in a similar fashion, and makes a place for himself once the threat is gone... maybe the Trevors take him in.

See the fan art thread for some of my Wonder Boy art.

... sometimes I wonder if that song was written just as a request for a new Wonder Boy story given that his origin was never told..

    Default Just wait 9 months

Due to the "rash of pregnancies" as one DC solicit put it, it's just a matter of time till we either have "Wonder Tot" back or get a "Wonder Boy". I'm with those that think that the supporting cast needs to be figured out and stablized first. Maybe what we have now, add in Nessie and a couple of the Embassy folks and then call it done then move forward?

And his arch-enemy was Young Nastyman, so clearly Wonder Boy was in the Miracleman Universe!

What? There was a wonder boy already? I'm assuming he's not part of the wonder woman universe?

Well in any case, if there was a wonder boy added to her supporting character, than i'd pick back up the series in a heart beat.

The Wonder Boy in the 1940s had no connection to Wonder Woman. Just like Marvel's Wonder Man has no connection to Diana.

I don't think Diana needs more super-powered people in her supporting cast. I would like that the book focus on Diana. Too often her book seems like a team-up. Phil Jimenez and John Byrne put so much of the spotlight on Hippolyta or Donna that I felt like it was a "WonderFamily" book.

Do we really need a Wonder Boy? What would a Wonder Boy add to the DCU?

I thought this is why we have Achilles?

    You have
Dick, Donna and Peege (Though I used to want a mini series with Dick, Donna and Linda they would have played so well off of each other.)

    John, Artemis and Helena

    Tim, Cassie and Kon

Kara.......(LOL who would go with her? I dunno.)

And how many similar heroes with identical powers and abilities do we need saturating the DCU?

I would prefer some original concepts. Some new powers. New costumes. New inspirations.
