Wonder Woman's outfit is one of the primary things that people who don't get her (and quite a few who do) pick out as being really silly.
Personally, I LOVE her costume and always have. As crazy as it is I think it really works and has adapted to modern times incredibly well. It's so strong as a visual design and I love that it's spotted with weapons, defenses and artifacts as embellishments.
Despite being originally designed after the American flag, all the symbols are so old and universal, the primary colours, the eagle and the stars, that there's so many different ways it could be legitimized.
I think there are a number of perfectly acceptable takes of Wonder Woman, The wise woman, the warrior, the virgin, the mother, the superhero, and I think there's a really appropriate design variation for them all. I love all the different takes for completely different reasons and don't feel particularly tied down to any of them. They're really just subtle variations on a theme.
