I was hoping he'd let us know when to expect the pilot... unless I missed that somewhere?

I'm definitely looking forward to this. I've been waiting forever to see an ongoing zombie TV series and what better subject material than "The Walking Dead". Can I make one suggestion? Kirkman, talk to Darabont about getting Tom Jane on this show as Rick. I think he'd nail it and with them working together in the past, it'd be perfect. Now let's see an "Invincible" television series!

Won't be for a long while. The deal was just announced a few weeks ago - Darabont's still writing it and casting hasn't even begun.

One may dislike Kirkmans writing at times, or disagree with him on some of his points of view, BUT he is such a diehard comic book writer. I feel like, at this point in time, 90% of writers are in it for a foot in the door to Hollywood. Kirkman, and others like him, really give me so much hope and optimism for the future of the medium.

I really look forward to this series and trust that AMC will give the production team enough freedom to execute this properly. This is an emotional series about the psychology of the characters, as long as that stays in tact...and a decent amount of violence to keep the heart rate up...I imagine a great translation between the two mediums.

I agree that Tom Jane would be awesome as Rick but his show Hung on HBO was renewed for another year so not much of a chance for that.

Well, Mad Men and Breaking Bad have pretty good mix of unknowns in their cast and they seem to have done well. eh. I guess casting is still a ways off anyway.

This is amazing news! I have to wonder though about the casting of the children, after all Carl at least is integral to Rick's character, and having a young child actor exposed to such an adult theme (not to mention all the guys in scary ass looking zombie suits) would be a bit more than any responsible parent would want. Having said that though, the child actors on shows like Dexter are kept isolated from the darker parts of the script as they obviously wouldn't be allowed to watch the show as viewers.
