So, a month ago, I had confirmation that I would be getting responses from feminist icon, Gloria Steinem, editor of Ms. Magazine. Apparently, though, my questions were more complicated (time-consuming) than she expected, so her assistant said she wouldn't be able to respond. I asked if, perhaps, Gloria could respond to 2 - 3 questions instead, but I have yet to hear back.

I do have questions out there to a comic icon, one who played a pivotal role in Wonder Woman's history, and I'll be sending another set to someone who's had a hand in some more recent Wonder Woman "stuff."

I look forward to getting the responses.

I have more irons in the fire, too. I'll keep you posted.

I've just started a new blog on the topic of heroines in popular fiction. Not all the posts will deal with WONDER WOMAN but all will deal with heroine-oriented subjects generally. See below.

Default The History of the World as Told by Wonder Woman

    http://www.vaquerafilms.com/wonderwoman/

"THE HISTORY OF THE UNIVERSE AS TOLD BY WONDER WOMAN is a film about female superheroes, warrior princesses and other icons of women's empowerment in popular culture. It looks at the history of fiction's longest running and most enduring superheroine as part of a larger conversation about the possibilities and contradictions of women as popular action heroes. The film not only serves as an inquiry into our evolving values about women as agents of strength, authority and leadership, but also reminds us of the need, no matter our gender, race, class or sexual orientation, for stories that tell us we can all be heroes."

    Default Cbr ww archive

I have started archiving threads and links from this forum in the event of an unforeseen calamity, and they're being housed here: http://cbrwwarchive.wordpress.com/

If you think of any threads in particular of historic WW importance, please let me know :) You can provide a link to the thread if you want and I will archive it.

Here's an article about an interesting book that's just been released. "The Supergirls: Fashion, Feminism, Fantasy, and the History of Comic Book Heroines" is about the evolution of female super heroes.

What about Messner-Loebs? He wrote great stories, had a fun and funny Diana, and created one of the most enduring and compelling supporting cast members-- Artemis. He doesn't seem to get much love, I think, because of "Taco Whiz," but if someone could seek him out and get him to answer some questions, maybe we could get an interesting perspective on that and other elements in his fantastic run.

It has been a REALLY long time since the last. I know Gail recently said she's working on some, but I'm gettin antsy. It's one of my favorite features of this board.

I love this site. It's a little strange that most of the WW figures are golden age. Would like to see a modern age representation of Diana, since there's every conceivable version of Donna and Cassie.

To make some room, I'm setting this one free... it'll still be around, and hopefully SOON I will have someone's link to add to this thread.
