Default CBR: Bendis on "Powers" Comics + TV Show

    Default It really sucks...

...that I'm so far behind on my "Powers" reading. I've read all of Volume 1 and then only about 9 issues of Volume 2. I'm completely pumped about Volume 3 but I really want to catch up first. I'm really torn on whether or not to continue collecting the single comic books or just wait for the Definitive Collections, though. I picked up the first Definitive Collection but was a little upset when Oeming's awesome two-page spreads become distorted because of the thick spine. That and I also missed reading the hilarious and overly-absurd letter pages. So torn. I'm getting completely out of collecting single issues (minus the Wolverine titles from Marvel and the Kirkman-written titles from Image) but I really enjoy "Powers" in single form. Any suggestions?

Yup. Couldn't agree more: Powers is easily one of my all time favourite series. And it just reminds me of how much I absolutely love Bendis' creator owned stuff.

POWERS is one of my favorite books. With TOM STRONG gone, it probably IS my favorite book.

But I the delays -- and the delays -- and the delays. What I really want to know is, when the POWERS t.v. show (which I might enjoy) comes along, will it keep Bendis and Oeming from working on the comic book (which I love)?

Yeah, I'm excited to see it back but can't help wondering how many issues they have ready to go now. Because the delays are almost inevitable given what happened last time out. I hope I'm wrong because I love this book - even the monkey issue - and I'll buy it regardless. But waiting months between issues sucks.

    Thumbs up

I don't read any of Bendis' work anymore...except for POWERS. Still one of my favorite titles!

Years ago I sold all my issues of volume 1 just to rebuy the series in tpb. I've stuck w/the trades since! Just finished reading the latest one the other day, great stuff...

Thumbs down BOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! (not the article, what was said in it)

Reading this thing pissed me off so much!

    The answers given were just....frustrating!

I mean, he says he didn't want to confuse people about where to start off, yet, starting with a NEW #1 ISN'T going to confuse people! Who are they, idiots? You obviously start with #1, but now they'll have to contend with 2 #1's to see where to begin.

Also, he says that his Powers has always been a cop POV story?!? Um...yeah, I kinda remember something about space and monkeys and a 2001 feel to it. I LOVED Powers in the beginning, and got every thing they put out or whatever, but then, it just kinda lost me. Maybe the new start will be back to it's origins, but who knows...

But the BIGGEST blow was him talking about how 'spoiled' he was at Marvel, yet Joe Q, in defending ALL the rising costs of comics had been explaining how talent like Bendis are basically just one step away from moving on to better paying jobs, and that the comics' price rise is to keep them at the company! He sounded like a very happy person to simply be working there, as anyone who is working in this economy. So I don't know if it was a sell, but someone ain't telling the truth.
