Billy Tan? >.<
Well... nice knowin' ya Thor, see you in the crossovers.
Could someone try to explain to me how this Billy Tan character continues to find work as a visual artist
what am I missing here
Yeah...I don't see that.“You can talk about Spider-Man and the X-Men being the public faces of Marvel, but as a working setting the Marvel Universe spins on the axis of three characters: Captain America, Iron Man, and Thor,” the writer stated. “Those three characters show you different aspects like what it means to be human and heroic, and in the case of Thor he’s historically been one of the Marvel Universe’s most powerful characters in terms of heroism.”
Sounds like his run should be good, though.

I wonder if Kieron read Millar's FF....
I'm starting to like him already. I wish they would have kept Copiel on the art though.Indeed, Doom finds the very idea of gods to be offensive. “To him it’s like, ‘If you’re a god then who am I?’ He’s brilliant beyond all belief but he’s perhaps not as good as he wants to be and rubbing him up against gods like the Asgardians means you start talking about things like hubris,” Gillen explained. “I don’t think Doom would view the Asgardians as gods. He’d view them as some people he’s playing host to in his country. Doom is not a guy who bows.”
He's finishing off JMS' run true, but it doesn't necessarily mean he's off the book for good. From the Billy Tan interview over at Newsarama it sounds as though Coipel will be back.
Next on his agenda is a three-issue story for Thor with new writer, Kieron Gillen, and he was quick to point out it was simply a “fill-in” job, as there was no way he could take over for Olivier Copiel, who he feels has been doing a stupendous job on the book.
Instead of bitch-slapping Tan you should really be excited. Based on these interviews Gillen completely understands Thor and his world. The awesome will continue.
And Marvels big 3 are the axis in terms of the fictional setting. He's not talking about comic book sales or popularity
1) they are the public face of the heroes
2) Cap is the first "normal enhanced to superhuman" represents superheroes
3) Stark is the normal using science and tech represents pulp sci-fi
4) Thor is the mythic hero representing fantasy and myth
Spider-man and the X-men are outsiders in the MU.

Well, it's hard to get excited for a book when it features an artist you dislike. If Land had been the artist on Thor then any and all criticism that would have ensued would be justified, no matter how awesome Gillen is. Not comparing Tan to Land or anything, just that it's hard to read a book if you dislike the artist in a visual medium.
