Marvel Wants to make the Ultimate universe Different than the Earth-616 universe and Wolverine is In almost every book of the 616 universe so keeping Wolverine Dead Will make the Ultimate universe very Different than the Earth-616 universe

I would prefer him to stay dead, but we both know it won't happen.

No it certainly won't happen, but it sure would be nice. I'd be willing to place money that he'll be the 1st revival. They've already gotten part of his skeleton. O but fury says it can't be cloned... yeah, right.

Nope. First revival is Wasp. How much would you have bet on Wolverine being the first?

Well, in my opinion different isn't always good. In this case, I'm not a fan of a universe without Wolverine. I don't read X-men Forever for the same reason. If they keep Wolverine dead, fine. I just won't read Ultimate Comics. No big deal.

Having said that, Mark Millar has already said that he will appear in the third Ultimate Avengers story arc. So, assuming they were being truthful when they said "dead actually means dead this time" during the Ultimate panel at Wizard World Chicago, that means one of two things:

    - Millar's 3rd UA arc will have Wolverine in flashback sequences, or

    - they will introduce a new character using the codename Wolverine.

Personally I think the latter scenario could be interesting, depending on the character (i.e., no teenage girl or tatooed punk with a mohawk). IMO the Ultimate Universe needs a 616 Nick Fury type. You know, the grizzled veteran hardcase type who has seen it all. Ultimate Fury is bit on the smoother side, and Cap (while kind of a hardcase) isn't really all that grizzled or cynical.

Perhaps they could bring in the Ultimate version of William Stryker, who is an admiral in the Navy in the Ultimate Universe, and he heads up a new military-unit called Team X. Ultimate Deadpool could get a revamp (basically taking the cyborg and grafting/splicing mutant powers into his DNA like optic blasts and teleportation; similar to the Wolverine movie). Throw in an Ultimate Silver Fox with powers like the New X-men kid, Mercury (hence the codename Silver Fox), Agent Zero (a Hispanic hyper-kinetic; in other words, heightened reflexes and the ability to manipulate objects already in motion, like bullets), and the Ultimate version of Karma (who we saw working for SHIELD during Bendis' run on Ultimate X-men). And, finally, yes, a new operative codenamed Wolverine.

This guy would be an ex-Navy SEAL who served under Stryker and who has seen some truly horrific stuff, and thus volunteers for the program and actually wants his memory wiped. They're able to recreate the process that gave Logan his healing factor and heightened senses during WWII, and then they graft the adamantium to his skeleton and give him cybernetic claw implants (because I believe that Millar said that Wolverine in the Ultimate Universe had implants, not natural bone claws underneath an adamantium coating; so they do the same thing with this new guy). Make him the ultimate badass and somewhat similar to the old Wolverine, but not exactly, and I'd be happy.

Otherwise, well, there's plenty of good books in the real Marvel Universe right now. And the only Ultimate book I'm currently even remotely interested in is Ultimate Avengers anyway.

What is wrong with the Ultimate Universe Nick Fury? Personally, I think he's better, as he's a more intriguing character with more potential for development than the 616 Nick Fury. And why does Cap need to be grizzled and cynical? The last thing the Ultimate Universe needs is to become more like 616.

Neither Cap nor Fury need to change. They are perfect as is. My point was that a new Ultimate Wolverine character like I described could fit the 616 Fury mold and would thus be different because Ultimate Fury has a totally different voice. Sorry for the confusion, but I wasn't saying that Ultimate Fury or Ultimate Cap need to be different.

Yeah, but the whole, assuming they were being truthful when they said "dead actually means dead this time," you really can't count on that. Not even a little bit. So I'm afraid those aren't the only 2 options. I'm not saying somebody else won't use the Wolverine code name for a time maybe, but he will eventually be back. I'd really rather him stay dead though. There are MORE than enough marvel books with him right now. And I was never that fond of the Ultimate version anyway. Certain writers handled him a little better, I liked Bendis' UXM stories, like when wolvie gave that kid a beer then killed him. Good stuff.

well I think millar stated that the third arc might have something to do with a Tomb of Dracula story line, which could mean Dracula will find a way to resurrect Wolverine

Really though, it's not Wasp on the cover I don't think. Were you saying that for some other reason?

Admittedly Wasp is called Jocasta now, but she's the same really.

Yeah, same memories = same person, just a new body. But I really hate the helmet she has.
