Depends, what are your interests? Be warned now that if you're expecting your childhood heroes from Saturday morning cartoons, you might be a touch disappointed.

Hrm, well then, I would suggest Nextwave: Agents of H.A.T.E. You can pick up the full series in two trade paperbacks, excellent satirical work. Incredible Hercules is also a great choice. In my opinion it's probably the best ongoing Marvel is currently putting out, it's got a great mix of humour and action, and is pretty self contained, so no having to pick up a dozen other titles you don't want to read to understand what's going on. The current run of Thor is pretty decent as well, though so far it's not had much in the way of action. My favorite part has easily been Thor kicking Tony Stark's ass and putting him in his place. And of course Deadpool, lots of action, lots of comedy.

Where is a good place to start with Deadpool? The thought if reading a zagillion books sequentially makes me want to punch things. Got a suggestion?

Hrm, well I started from the very beginning with his first appearances, but his very first appearance isn't very important, he pretty much just showed up, fought Cable briefly, and that was about it. The couple of mini-series he was in were pretty good, and the original Deadpool series, but you could probably start with the current Deadpool Volume 2, which started in '08, or Deadpool: Merc With a Mouth, which only launched this year. I'd also suggest the Deadpool/GLI Summer Fun Spectular one shot.
